The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday named Edgar Aguirre as director of talent development and inclusion.
In his new position, Aguirre will focus on driving diversity awareness, inclusion and outreach efforts within the film community. He also will fundraise for key educational initiatives.
Aguirre will report to Randy Haberkamp, managing director, preservation and foundation programs.
Since 2011, Aguirre has served as director of strategic initiatives at Southern California Public Radio. Prior to that, he worked at Los Angeles Public Media.
Aguirre currently sits on the boards of Latino Public Radio Consortium, the Los Angeles Urban Renewal Network and the Thelma Pearl Howard Foundation.
