Before appearing on Broadway in hit productions or being nominated for two Academy Awards, way back in 1993, Michael Shannon and some fellow actors founded A Red Orchid Theatre  in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood.

He’s now back in Chicago, starring with ensemble members Travis A. Knight and Lawrence Grimm in a riveting new play written and directed by Levi Holloway.

It’s called Turret and it’s set in an underground facility in the woods of the Pacific Northwest, with a two-story set that is so big, it required them to stage the play at Chopin Theatre in Wicker Park.

Turret runs through June 9.

Michael and Travis spoke to WGN’s Dean Richards about the production.
