Abigail Breslin is married to her “bestest friend,” her husband Ira Kunyansky.

The My Sister’s Keeper and Scream Queens actress — who also releases music under the stage name Sophomore — started dating Kunyansky in 2017.

Despite Breslin’s involvement in the entertainment industry since childhood, her husband is not part of the Hollywood world. According to his Instagram bio, Kunyansky refers to himself as a “crypto connoisseur,” and in a 2022 post, he credited Bitcoin trading with changing his life six years earlier.

Breslin and Kunyansky married in January 2023 in the mountains north of Los Angeles. Less than one month after their wedding, she posted on Instagram wishing him a happy birthday while trying out their new titles as husband and wife.

HAPPY 32ND BDAY to the best husband and person I know ❤️❤️❤️ I love you my babekin!!!!!!” she captioned the slideshow of them.

Kunyansky returned the favor of birthday wishes a few months later. Alongside an Instagram slideshow of photos of the couple kissing and candids of Breslin, he wrote, “Happy birthday to my beautiful angel wife!!!! Love you more than words can describe!!!”

While the two are not shy about sharing their love for each other in heartfelt social media posts, they keep the details of their relationship private.

So who is Abigail Breslin’s husband? Here’s everything to know about Ira Kunyansky and his relationship with the actress.

Despite Breslin’s roles in popular movies and shows — including Little Miss Sunshine, for which she earned an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress, and Scream Queens, which aired just before the two started dating — Kunyansky didn’t recognize the actress when they first met.

On the The Tonight Show in 2021, Breslin told host Jimmy Fallon about an early conversation between herself and Kunyansky when he didn't know about her impressive career.

“He had no idea who I was when we met, and I told him that I was moving to L.A. He was like, ‘For what reason?’ ’’ she said. “And I was like, ‘Well I’m an actor ... ' And he said, ‘Good luck. It’s really hard.' "

The two started dating in April 2017, according to their social media profiles. For the pair’s first anniversary, Breslin posted a close-up photo with Kunyansky on Instagram.

“Happy 1 year (and a day because I forgot to post this yesterday) to not only my boyfriend but my best friend," she wrote. "Who keeps me sane on a moment to moment basis and makes me happier than I could ever express via an Instagram post. Love you babekin.”

Shortly after, she shared another post about the special moment, picturing Kunyansky down on one knee on the beach.

He also uploaded a slideshow on Instagram celebrating their engagement with the caption, “She said YES!” The post is tagged at Geoffrey’s restaurant in Malibu, where the couple ate a surf and turf meal before the proposal.

In honor of their first year of marriage, Kunyansky dedicated a tribute to his bride in January 2024. "Happy 1 year wedding anniversary my beautiful angel @abbienormal9 LOVE YOU ❤️🏆❤️," he captioned pictures of them on Instagram.

For Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October 2022, Breslin opened up about a previous abusive relationship. On social media, she shared that she experienced both physical and verbal abuse for years — and that her family and friends, as well as Kunyanksy, helped her heal from it.

I am beyond thankful for the support of my family and friends who played an instrumental and invaluable role in helping me leave this horrible situation,” she wrote on Instagram. “I will forever be indebted to those closest to me for them not only assisting me but, BELIEVING me.”

“I now am in a wonderful, healthy, happy and amazing relationship with my fiancé,” Breslin continued. “My C-PTSD (complex post traumatic stress disorder) is much better than it was in the first 2 years after my abusive relationship, but, I still have moments. I still occasionally have nightmares, and certain things still do trigger me. I am still healing.”

One year earlier, on an episode of the Hey Guys, Hey podcast in 2021, Breslin also talked about her relationship with Kunyansky after experiencing abuse.

“There is hope, it does get better. You do get through it,” she said. “I’m lucky now, I’m in a very very healthy almost 5-year long relationship with my boyfriend. He’s amazing, and he is the sweetest person.”

Despite not being involved in Hollywood himself, Kunyansky cheers on Breslin’s acting and music career.

He has accompanied her to red carpets and premieres, including the Cannes Film Festival in 2021 for Breslin’s movie Stillwater with Matt Damon. Kunyansky posted an Instagram photo of the two on the red carpet — him in a tuxedo and her in an emerald green Dolce and Gabbana gown — tagging Breslin with the caption “gorgeous baby.”

Then, just 11 days after their wedding, the couple made their red carpet debut as newlyweds when they attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival for the premiere of Breslin’s movie Miranda’s Victim.

As for her music career, Kunyansky isn’t shy about promoting Breslin’s music — under the name Sophomore — on his social media.

When she released her first EP Witchcraft in February 2022, Kunyansky posted a screenshot of the song list on Instagram and wrote, “Everyone go listen! Babygirl’s album @abbienormal9 [is] extraordinary 🔥🔥.”
