Abhijan (1962), also known as The Expedition, is an Indian drama film helmed by the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray. The thought-provoking movie focuses on the life of Narsingh, a cabbie who runs into financial troubles after losing his job.

Desperate to make money, he begins trafficking opium for a full-time crook named Sukhanram. Narsingh’s sanity gradually falls apart as he faces setbacks in every aspect of life. Nevertheless, he finds unlikely refuge in the warm company of one of Sukhanram’s prostitutes.
