In September 2023, Aashiqui 3 officially went into active development. It was announced that the film would be produced by Mukesh Bhatt and Bhushan Kumar and directed by Anurag Basu, with Pritam serving as the music composer and Kartik Aaryan playing the male lead. In late December 2024, Pinkvilla reported that Tripti Dimri, fresh from the success of her film Animal, would star opposite Aaryan in the upcoming project, which is set to begin production in the first quarter of 2024. If these reports turn out to be accurate, Aashiqui 3 can come out in 2025 at the earliest.
