Aaron Paul is interested in playing Kurt Cobain, if a biopic of the Nirvana musician is ever made.

It turns out that the 40-year-old has been thinking about portraying Cobain ever since he moved to Los Angeles in 1997.

Paul made this admission to NME, recalling, “When I first moved to LA, I thought quite a bit about Kurt Cobain and what happened and I just love Nirvana – Smells Like Teen Spirit was one of the first records I bought with my own money, so I’ve thought that could be interesting [to play Cobain].”

Unfortunately, it might be a bit of a stretch for Paul to play Cobain now, as the songwriter died at the age of 27 in his home in Seattle, Washington, on April 5, 1994.

There’s a good chance that Hollywood will eventually get around to making a Kurt Cobain and Nirvana biopic, as the likes of Bohemian Rhapsody, Rocketman, and Straight Outta Compton have all been hugely successful at the box office in recent years, grossing a combined total of just under $1.3 billion.

Paul isn’t the first actor to register their interest in one day playing a legendary musician. Just last week, Daniel Radcliffe admitted that he would jump at the chance to play David Bowie.

“If you're talking like dream thing, who would it be fun to play and which songs it would be great to sing, then I suppose it'd be David Bowie. But I'm not actually submitting myself for that.”

However he did note, “I don't think I'd be good, and I certainly think there are people that'd be better. And also, we don't need to make a film about everyone's life.”
