Aaron Carter is expecting a baby with girlfriend Melanie Martin: 'I want to be a good dad'

Aaron Carter has announced that he is expecting his first child with girlfriend Melanie Martin.
The 32-year-old singer divulged that he is to become a father on an Instagram Live on Tuesday, reports People, as he showed what appeared to be a positive pregnancy test.
“This is what we both want," he told the publication. "We both were trying for it. I’m just focused on the future and being a dad.
"I want to be a good dad,” he added. “I’m focused, my music career has been doing really well, and touring, having my clothing line out, all that stuff I have going for me that isn’t necessarily just music. Family is most important to me.”
Carter first made his relationship with Martin public as he shared a photo of them together back in January. The following month, he shared a gushing post where he wrote: "I've never met a woman more invested into me."
In March he made a permanent declaration of his love for his partner after he got her name inked above his right eyebrow. According to TMZ, however, Martin was arrested on a domestic violence charge that same month. Though Carter responded to the incident by tweeting, “You don’t have to wait for someone to treat you bad repeatedly. All it takes is once, and if they get away with it that once, if they know they can treat you like that, then it sets the pattern for the future.”
He now tells People that the charges against Martin have been dropped and they have “just realized that we love each other.”
The baby news comes after Carter had a difficult year in 2019, as his Backstreet Boys star brother Nick Carter took a restraining order out against him after allegations he threatened to kill Nick's pregnant wife.
He denied the allegations on Twitter, saying, “I have never had thoughts of causing anyone pain, let alone taking anyone's life.”
