Aaron Carter criticized for 'severely racist' post: 'Ignorance at its finest'

Aaron Carter’s latest Instagram post is racking up dislikes.

A video that the singer shared Monday shows him ordering Chinese food over the phone, while imitating a Chinese accent. He captioned the share, “When your friends can't order Chinese food chicken in NYC AND you have to SHOW THEM YOURE cultural status #satire.”

If the hashtag was intended to prevent backlash, well, it didn’t work. Many people were very upset with what they saw. They deemed Carter’s post “severely racist” and “wildly offensive.”

One person labeled the moment, “Cringe fest 2019,” while another called it, “ignorance at its finest.” Someone suggested that Carter get “serious help.”

“Could you get any lower dude? This is not a good look,” someone else wrote.

Still another advised, “It would be in your best interest to delete this.”

Carter had not taken the clip down as of Tuesday afternoon.

The controversy caps what has been a tumultuous year for Carter, in which he’s grappled with his own mental health and with family issues. Last month, he posted and later deleted Instagrams video that showed him driving to what he deemed a safe location. He alleged that his family and Sony Records were conspiring to kill him.
