Canton-based Mix 94.1 is getting a new morning show.

Details about the program — including the host — will be announced on air at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The show replaces the Columbus-based and syndicated Dave & Jimmy radio program, the station announced via social media and on its website.

The new show begins Oct. 9.

A 94.1 radio personality also was teasing the new show on Monday afternoon, referencing Wednesday's announcement: "It will all come into focus then!"

Dave & Jimmy, broadcast on WNCI-FM 97.9, is no longer available for syndication as of Friday, said Joel Murphy, program director for Mix 94.1 and WHBC-FM. Those stations, along with WHBC 1480 AM, are part of Alpha Media.

"We thought this would be the perfect opportunity to go with a 'live-and-locally-based' morning show," Murphy said in an email Monday afternoon.

Dave & Jimmy had been aired on 94.1 since 2018. Murphy noted that the popular radio personalities had joined 94.1 for the Canton Repository Grand Parade during this year's Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Enshrinement Festival.

Airing and streaming 6 to 10 a.m. weekdays, the new show will feature "local content, local phone calls, local contests, local events, guests and more," 94.1 said on its website.

The Canton station's online postings did not reveal the host, but gave a few hints, adding that the new morning show is "all made with YOU in mind" and "hosted by one of our own."

"Get ready for a new era of morning radio for Stark County and beyond," the station added.

Murphy said in the email that "more changes" are to come.

94.1 plays Taylor, Miley, Billie and more

Mix 94.1 plays pop music, including modern chart-toppers such as Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Morgan Wallen and Olivia Rodrigo.

The station, however, also broadcasts Friday night high school football.

Current 94.1 radio personalities include Marissa in the 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. slot, as well as Java Joel (Murphy, the program director) 2 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Another local 94.1 radio personality is Matt Fantone.

Throwback and retro programming also includes Chris Cruise ("Throwback 2K" 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays); the "Saturday Night Mix Party" with JT (7 p.m. to midnight on Saturdays); "Totally 90s Now with Tom Kent" (7 a.m. to noon Sundays); and Jordan Miller & "Sunday Night Slow Jams" with R-Dub (8 p.m. to midnight Sundays).
