On season 9 of 90 Day Fiancé, Yvette Arellano and Mohamed Abdelhamed had a lot to overcome. Apart from the 24-year age gap between the American acupuncturist and the younger workout fanatic from Egypt, there were also religious and cultural differences to account for. So, are Yve and Mohamed still together? Keep scrolling to find out Yvette and Mohamed’s current relationship status.
What Happened On Season 9 of 90 Day Fiancé?
Yve is a single mom from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The yogi and acupuncturist fell for Mohamed after he slid into her DMs. She was wowed by his sexy shirtless Instagram photos showing the hunk's ripped six-pack abs. However, their love connection wouldn’t be easy as throughout the series, he's described as "wanting a woman like his mother."
Mohamed was not exaggerating either. In a scene from a May 2022 episode, the Egypt native explained, "My perfect woman is a woman who will love me like my mother." The next scene showed the couple in Yve's kitchen with her showing him a carton of eggs, a pan and spatula, expecting Mohamed to prepare himself breakfast while he stood there looking confused.
"Yve made me frustrated because I expect her to cook for me because my mom always cooks for me. I expect Yve to do the same," he revealed to producers. In another scene, the pair argued over her showing too much skin.
While out driving with Yve behind the wheel, she snapped at Mohamed, who was riding shotgun. "You told me, 'You're wearing a bikini. You're naked!' I was not naked! I don't want to be judged." She then told producers in a confessional, "I don't want to be judged. I'm a grown-ass woman." The scene cut back to Mohammed telling Yve, "You're going to be my wife. Are you going to choose a bikini over me?"
The pair’s beliefs only continued to be a source of contention. Mohamed was less than pleased with Yve’s invitation to participate in a traditional fire ceremony in an effort to cleanse “the negative energy” between Mohamed and her friends.
“Fire ceremonies are used commonly in Native American cultures to cleanse and purify,” Yve detailed in her confessional during the July 2022 episode. “And also let go of things that maybe have been difficult or hard.”
However, her actions had the opposite effect on her partner.
“I’m not OK with Yve’s beliefs. If we wish something, why we, don’t ask God? Like, fire has nothing to do with wishes,” he confessed. “If that’s how Yve and her friends practice their spirituality, that goes against my beliefs.”
Did ‘90 Day Fiance’ Stars Yve and Mohamed Get Married?
Despite some major challenges, the pair made it down the aisle and completed the K-1 visa requirement. “I find Yve loving me unconditionally,” Mohamed told producers following their wedding. “I made mistakes and she loved me through it all.”
“And I feel the same way,” Yve cut in during their joint confessional in July 2022. “I mean, I’m not perfect, and we’re learning to just not put too much pressure on each other, to be something that we’re not. And I get to spend the rest of my life with, like, my best friend, my true love.”
‘90 Day Fiance’ Star Mohamed’s Text Message Scandal
While the pair ended the season as a happily wedded couple, marital bliss would end by the tell-all. In the final scene of the special, Yve revealed she discovered text messages between Mohamed and other women.
“You know, it’s very shocking, raw, disappointing, saddening,” she said at the end of the episode. “He chose to spend his time focused on starting other relationships and engaging in activity that a married man should not be engaging in. … I asked him if I could see his phone, and that happened and I saw inappropriate things. I saw pictures and calls, and put the pieces together.”
Mohamed came clean to the allegations, revealing he met a girl online. “She was very nice, I thought we [were] friends … And then, things started to get bigger,” he explained in his own solo confessional. “Yve saw my phone. She saw the text messages, and that’s how Yve knew.”
TLC showed the text messages between Mohamed and the other women, one of which appeared from him that read, “I would just keep you in bed for days,” which was followed by a second text that read, “Just kidding lol [sic],” seemingly from the TLC alum. In another message that appeared to be from Mohamed, he wrote, “I will go to the attorney right after I get the green card.”
After his discovery, Mohamed wanted to make it “right” so he texted the women he could not talk to them anymore. “I texted these women and told them, ‘I am a married man. Please stop texting me,’” he tearfully continued. “I know I did wrong. I told the same story to my wife and promised her that will never happen again. I do love Yve, and she doesn’t deserve that.”
Following the airing of the scene, Yve took to social media to spill more tea and revealed one of Mohamed’s alleged romances was married.
“Let me be clear. Of course, I blame him as well,” Yve wrote via her Instagram Stories that day. “First time I get to say anything though. Everyone was demanding I say something [and] finally get to, so just take it as facts … [and] one of these women was still married as well.”
Are 90 Day Fiance’s Yvette and Mohamed Still Together?
Before Mohamed’s text message scandal, the couple was still going strong as of June 2022. Yve previously shared a snap of the couple in a studio together making music together.
“I’ve shared some seemingly interesting ideas & dreams with this man. He doesn't roll his eyes, though a few of these dreams may cause a slight arch of his eyebrow,” she gushed in the caption of her post. “One thing many don't know about this man, is that he is ready to support me in whatever endeavor I undertake. We both are very different people, we have vast differences. It's those differences that make the synchronicity and our connection and bond so intense.”
The mom of one ended the post by thanking Mohamed for his “love and support, unweathered resilience” and for joining her on this “incredible journey.”
Confirming their relationship status at the time in a reply to a viewer, the New Mexico native wrote, “I haven’t been keeping up with my social media but of course, we are continuing!”
However, following the scandal, Yve and Mohamed are not on good terms and no longer follow each other on social media.
“Queens don’t compete with hoes,” Yve wrote the day of the August 2022 tell-all. In another slide, she added, “And … homewreckers. They, these!! Plural were both desperado.”
Meanwhile, Mohamed’s messages were more mysterious toward his estranged wife.
“There are two sides to every story and there is the truth where everyone will know soon enough … stay tuned,” he wrote as he added a wink face. The next day, he continued, “A lot of people asking, why I’m not saying my part of the story, that’s because I was trying my best to end the relationship with respect, that’s all.”
Amid the cheating scandal, In Touch exclusively confirmed that Yve was charged on August 15 for battery against a household member in Albuquerque, New Mexico, according to court records.
“The domestic abuse allegations have been falsified by Mohamed. Mohamed and the woman he has been cheating on Yve with have discussed his options from the very beginning,” Yve's manager, Dominique Enchinton of Dominton Talent House, exclusively tells In Touch in response to the charges. “They specifically discussed a U-Visa and how Mohamed could qualify for this just in case Yve found out about his indiscretions.”
In Touch reached out to Mohamed for comment.
Did 90 Day Fiance’s Yve File For Divorce From Mohamed?
In September 2022, In Touch exclusively confirmed that the New Mexico native filed for divorce from Mohamed.
“Unfortunately, this is not a surprise,” Yve’s rep, Dominique Enchinton, owner of Dominton Talent House, exclusively told In Touch at the time. “The couple’s most recent media exposure regarding their 90-Day, K-1 visa journey was rife with incompatibility, heartache and controversy.”
90 Day Fiance’s Mohamed Makes Social Media Return After Three-Month Hiatus
After a three-month break, the former TLC star took to social media to thank fans for their concern.
“I got too many questions, [like] ‘Where have you been?’ and ‘What are you doing?’ I just wasn’t on social media [for] about three months now, because I was just working hard,” Mohamed shared via his Instagram Story in November 2022. “I did a lot of hard work, I am so proud of every job I had and I will have. Getting money after sweating and working hard is a beautiful feeling. I just appreciate all of you, that were asking for me. Thank you guys for your support.”
Is 90 Day Fiance’s Mohamed Still in the United States?
Following his split from Yve, fans wondered if the Egyptian native has returned home to his family. In November 2022, the former TLC star took to Instagram to share he celebrated his first Thanksgiving in the United States.
In a video posted on YouTube, Mohamed documented himself as he drove around handing out food.
“I got some stuff here, I think Thanksgiving should be about giving out, so I will look for whoever needs it,” he said in the vlog-style clip. “I’m just sharing that to invite others to do the same thing. I think it’s a great feeling to be able to give out.”
Months later, Mohamed was spotted working at a New Mexico Costco by a fan in July 2023.
