'90 Day Fiance' Star Jay Smith 'Going Crazy' But Staying Positive While In ICE Custody

Jay Smith of "90 Day Fiance" has been "hanging in there," trying to stay upbeat as he remains in ICE custody.

Smith's Court Date Rescheduled

His estranged wife, Ashley Smith, has provided updates on Jay's health and well-being since he turned himself in July 3 on what is an alleged PFA (protection from abuse) violation, put on him by Ashley.

Jay had been due in court regarding the PFA case on Wednesday, July 10, but that hearing has now been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 17.

Could Still Be Deported

Still in ICE custody, Jay is facing deportation. But since his arrest, he's had help and support from friend Kayla O'Brien, who started a GoFundMe page to help get Jay out of "immigration detention."

O'Brien says Jay is doing okay considering the circumstances.

"He said it is hard in lockup because he’s never done anything like this before," she says.

“He is so thankful and appreciative and you can always hear it in his voice, he knows how hard we are working for him."

Staying Positive

She's also visited him in custody and says he remains "strong":

“He is so admirable how he has stayed so strong, so calm, so collected and so positive. I am proud of him."

O'Brien says Smith also wanted to let people know that his GoFundMe is for real:

"He asked me to reach out on here and let everyone know that his GofundMe is not a scam and he is in real need of help," she says.

'Free Jay!'

On July 6, O'Brien posted a longer update describing Smith's delicate mental health:

"He is doing everything he can to keep his spirits lifted, he’s been reading a lot of books and making phone calls when he can, but he is truly sad and starting to feel depression and anxiety. His smile and the glow in his eyes never fades though, he still lights right up. I keep telling him to stay strong and reminding him how many people care and are working to help him, and how many people are actually realizing how wrong this whole situation is now. Please support Jay anyway you can if you have ever been touched by his unique energy this man deserves freedom from this cruel and unreasonable punishment. Free jay!!"
