9-year-old Jacob Tremblay on Possible Oscar Nom: 'I Hope So'

Jacob Tremblay, the 9-year-old star of the new movie Room, sat down with Meredith Vieira for his first ever TV talk show appearance Friday. He was welcomed with thunderous applause.

The emotional and intense performance he gave in Room has been cause for speculation that he will be nominated for an Academy Award, to which responded, “I hope so.”

The Smurfs 2 actor also talked about how he bonded with co-star Brie Larson over things like Legos and Star Wars. And he broke down how he would prepare himself for shooting such emotional scenes in Room. He said that he would sit in his chair and think of sad things until the tears started flowing, and then he would go shoot. Vieira pointed out that he was method acting, and Tremblay adorably agreed.
