9-year-old Celine Tam crushes Disney’s ‘Moana’ song ‘How Far I’ll Go’ on ‘AGT’
Nine-year-old Celine Tam returned to the America’s Got Talent semifinals, singing “How Far I’ll Go” from the Disney movie Moana. Tam seemed very well suited to the song, with Simon Cowell saying, “I have to tell you something: this was a massive, massive step up from what you’ve done before. This song was perfect for you.”
But Mel B didn’t agree. “For me the song was way too musical theater. I don’t think it showcased your voice. The range you presented was very locked in. I know you can go lower and higher and take us on a magical journey. You didn’t give us that tonight. I’m sorry to say that.”
Mel B’s opinion was definitely met with disagreement from the rest of the judges and the audience. But, right song choice or not, now it’s up to America to decide, and we’ll see whether Celine Tam makes it to the finals.
