Expect fun about expecting children at Bay Bay Street Players' production of "Baby" this weekend. The production kicks off the Eustis company's 49th season.

Fun with a bun in the oven

The jitters and insecurities, euphoria and utter dread that come with having a child are explored in Bay Street Players production of "Baby." In the play, three couples in a college town confront the harrowing, rewarding and amusingly universal experiences of pregnancy and impending parenthood. Book by Sybille Pearson, music Richard Maltby Jr. and lyrics by David Shire.

The show kicks off the Eustis theater company's 49th season, which is a pretty big deal, and runs Thursdays through Sundays through Nov. 12.  The New York Times theater critic Frank Rich said, "'Baby' is a modestly scaled entertainment that woos us with such basic commodities as warm feelings, an exuberant cast and a lovely score."

Tickets are $15-$25 and the production hits the stage at the historic State Theatre, 109 N. Bay St., Eustis. For more information, visit eustisstatetheatre.org/baby.
