Never Approach Animals In The Wild

When visiting natural parks, it's always important to be aware of the wildlife around you and to give them a wide berth. No matter how cool and fluffy that critter is, you have to stay away. We are in their home, so we need to be respectful guests. According to Yellowstone Park rules, visitors have to stay 25 yards away from from bison and elk and 100 yards from predators such as wolves and bears.

A Horrible Ordeal

These rules are intended to protect the wildlife and the guests, because when they are ignored incidents like this happen. On Monday, a 9-year-old girl from Florida was visiting Yellowstone with her family when the group got too close to a bison near the Old Faithful geyser. The bison then charged them, tossing the young girl into the air.

Seriously, Give Animals Their Space

Luckily, the girl survived and was treated for her injuries at the Old Faithful Lodge. She didn't sustain any major injuries and no citations were issued after the event.

So, seriously. Stay away from wild animals.
