Video games these days can cost a bit more than you’d like. Luckily, there are games that you can play for free on many platforms, including the Nintendo Switch. Here are the top family-friendly games. (All of these games are digital-download games.)

LEGO Fortnite

LEGO Fortnite is actually a new addition to the free Fortnite game on Nintendo Switch. Fortnite is a multiplayer shooter game, where the winner is determined by defeating the 99 other players, per IGN.

Players have to find equipment, build their base and more in order to survive. The LEGO Fortnite addition has two playing modes, survival and free-build. Survival follows the original Fortnite gameplay, but free-build allows players to build as much as they like.

Pokémon UNITE

Pokémon UNITE is Pokémon’s first 5-on-5 team battle game, according to Nintendo. Players get to dress up their characters in the game’s Holowear fashion and level up their Pokémon as they go through the game.

This game is an online and cross-platform game, meaning players get to interact with other players regardless of their gaming platform.

Super Kirby Clash

Super Kirby Clash is a multiplayer game where players choose a specific Kirby to fight against the many villains that appear. IGN explains that the Kirbys are split into four separate classes, each with unique abilities.

This game can be played with other players or with computer allies. Players can upgrade their Kirbys with armor and weapons as they progress through the game.

Sky: Children of the Light

This adventure game takes place in a world called Sky, where players must help solve the mysteries in seven different realms. There is no talking in the entire game, just a musical soundtrack as players explore.

Created by an award-winning team, Sky: Children of the Light has stories that players learn while saving the many spirits trapped in the game.

Pokémon Café ReMix

Pokémon Café ReMix is a puzzle game that allows players to create their own cafe. This game is a revamped version of the original Pokémon Café Mix video game. Pokémon characters can be dressed up and each one has unique skills to help the cafe. It’s a single player game that also has online features.

Players must figure out why humans disappeared in this world and why they have suddenly reappeared (spoiler alert, your character is one of those mysterious humans).

The game allows players to create a cozy life by building their own home, creating relationships with in-game characters and learning different skills. While a single-player game, the game takes place on online servers where players can communicate with each other.

Disney Speedstorm

This multiplayer racing game allows players to choose from their favorite Disney characters and race along Disney-inspired race tracks. Disney Speedstorm is always updating with new seasons that bring new characters and racetracks.

The game offers many car and character customizations and offline or online modes.
