National Red Wine Day is Aug. 28, so let's raise a glass at these nine local restaurants offering some of the best pours around town because wine not? Barn8 Restaurant & Bourbon Bar

WHAT: Barn8 serves a variety of signature red and white wines. Cocktails and an extensive list of rare whiskeys and aged bourbons from its small batch program are also offered, giving additional libation options for all non-wine lovers. Barn8 offers a seasonal menu crafted by executive chef Seth Kinder that highlights sustainable ingredients from the restaurant's on-site gardens, three-tier climate-controlled greenhouse and neighboring farms. A former dairy and horse barn, Barn8 features stalls repurposed to create individual dining spaces, an open chef’s kitchen, long communal farmhouse tables, and eclectic artwork selected by 21c Museum Hotel co-founders Steve Wilson and Laura Lee Brown.

The Capital Grille

WHAT: The Capital Grille is an upscale steakhouse that includes a lounge and private and semi-private spaces for events. It received the 2023 Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence and is known for its world-class wine list with more than 350 wines from nearly every wine-growing region on Earth. It is also known for its classic cocktails with a twist, dry-aged in-house steaks and fresh seafood. Steaks are meticulously dry-aged on premises for 18 to 24 days to achieve incomparable flavor and texture, then each is hand-carved daily by the restaurant’s butcher. Steaks include New York strip steak, filet Mignon and ribeye.

WHAT: Cuvee Wine Table is a wine bar and small plate restaurant with comfortable tables and a patio perfect for any wine fan. Named as one of the top wine restaurants in the world receiving the 2023 Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. The team at Cuvee is ready for the person with no wine knowledge who is curious to learn and try new wines as well as the experienced wine connoisseur. The eclectic wine program, lea by Master Sommelier Scott Harper, serves a huge wine selection including more than 50 wines available by the taste or glass. It also has several craft beers on tap and a full bar for cocktails. WHAT: Morton’s was named one of the top wine restaurants in the world, receiving the 2023 Wine Spectactor’s Award of Excellence. It offers award-winning wines, classic hand-crafted cocktails, imported and local craft brews and chef-selected menu options. Morton’s menu includes USDA prime aged steaks in various cuts, fresh seafood and produce, appetizers and decadent desserts. WHAT: Porcini has been serving Northern Italian fare and fine wine for 30 years. With an emphasis on small production vineyards featuring Italian and Old-World wines, Porcini’s sommeliers have curated a thoughtful wine list that pairs well with its seafood-centric menu crafted by executive chef John Plymale.
