There are multiple ceremonies planned for Saturday, September 11, to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. But before then, all the major networks and streamers are rolling out programming to commemorate the lives lost and provide perspective on one of the darkest days in U.S. history.

World News Tonight with David Muir – The anchor will conduct interviews with survivors and heroes of the attacks, culminating in a Friday evening broadcast of World News Tonight from Ground Zero. Airs: 10/6-10, 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, 5:30 p.m. CT

GMA3: What You Need to Know – ABC’s afternoon offering will host a panel discussing Islamophobia and two 9/11 survivors who met and became friends for life. Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes will anchor from Ground Zero on Friday. Airs: 9/6-10, 1 p.m. ET, 12 p.m. CT/PT

The View – The co-hosts who were on air reflect on that morning 20 years ago, including what it was like in the New York City studio as the tragedy unfolded and the their reactions in the moments following the terrorist attack. Airs: 9/10, 11 a.m. ET, 10 a.m. PT

Women of 9/11: A Special Edition of 20/20 with Robin Roberts – Robin Roberts tells the stories of first responders, survivors and family members who have found strength and purpose in the decades since the attacks. Debuts: 9/8 9-11 p.m. ET

20/20 Specials – World News Tonight‘s David Muir reports on how the events of September 11, 2001, forever changed the world. Diane Sawyer brings together the children of nearly 40 families who lost fathers in the attacks, whom she has followed through the decades, to reveal the reasons for their resiliency and hope. Debut: Muir 9/10, 9-10 p.m. ET; Sawyer, 10-11 p.m. ET

AMAZON MUSIC
9/12 – A seven-episode, narrative, nonfiction podcast focusing on what happened the day after the attacks. Debuts: 9/1

APPLE TV+
Come From Away – The Apple Original Films adaptation of the hit Broadway musical. Debuts: 9/10

9/11: Inside the President’s War Room – Narrated by Jeff Daniels, the doc recounts the 12 hours after the strike from the perspective of the 43rd president’s inner circle, including then-President George W. Bush himself. Debuts: 9/1; available for free on 9/11

CBS
CBS Sunday Morning – Among other coverage, on September 5 John Dickerson will talk with Associated Press photographer and Pulitzer Prize winner Richard Drew, who captured the chilling “Falling Man” image outside the World Trade Center. A week later on September 12, the show will have at Ground Zero 20 years later, how search and rescue dogs are trained and John Dickerson will interview Chris Wallace about the Fox News host’s new book about the hunt for Osama bin Laden. 9/5 & 9/12, 9 a.m. ET

Face the Nation – On September 5, the venerable Sunday show will examine the fallout of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan as the 20-year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks approaches. On the 12th moderator Margaret Brennan will have interviews and original reporting on the anniversary. 9/5 & 9/12, 10:30 a.m. ET

CBS Weekend News – David Martin will share the stories of three people who were at the Pentagon on 9/11.

CBS Mornings – The am news show will have 9/11-related coverage throughout the week leading up the the anniversary. Among the programing is a profile two brothers who are FDNY and whose father was one of the first firefighters to enter the Trade Center on 9/11. Gayle King speaks with a group who lost fathers in the attacks and wrote “Legacy Letters” to them afterwards. There will also be national security coverage, a perspective on the Taliban threat, a report from Guantanamo Bay, and look at Saudi Arabia’s efforts to curb extremism. 9/6-10, 7 a.m.

CBS Evening News With Norah O’Donnell – Throughout the week, O’Donnell will cover the 20th anniversary of the attacks. She will interview former National Security Adviser and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Friday, 9/10. The Evening News will also feature a conversation with Air National Guard fighter pilots who were scrambled on 9/11, reporting on the fight to unseal federal documents related the Saudi government’s involvement in the attacks and interviews with with Secret Service agents who were with President Bush on that day. 9/6-10, 6:30 p.m. ET

60 Minutes – The iconic news magazine begins its season with an hour dedicated to 9/11, including conversations with FDNY brass who were at Ground Zero. 9/12, 7 p.m. ET/PT

The CIA: Race Against Time – The True Story of the CIA and 9/11 – This two-hour documentary traces the agency’s greatest failure — failing to stop the 9/11 attacks — and what may be it’s greatest success –tracking down Osama bin Laden. The special features first-person accounts from the top CIA officials and operatives. Airs: 9/10, 8 p.m., ET

The 26th Street Garage: The FBI’s Untold Story –
‘Blue Bloods’ star Tom Selleck narrates this story of how the FBI, forced to work in a parking garage after evacuating its New York headquarters, launched and ran the agency’s most complex and important investigation in its history. 9/9, Paramount+

Business Day – Throughout the week leading up to the anniversary, Business Day will focus on Lower Manhattan’s economy since the terrorist attacks, long-term healthcare for 9/11 those impacted by 9/11 and the financial toll the attacks have taken on survivors and families of 9/11 victims. Airs: 9/6-10

The News with Shepard Smith – Smith will do a special live show from Lower Manhattan. Vicky Nguyen will look at how the residents of Chinatown were impacted over the past two decades and why their story has been so under-reported. Live Show Airs: 9/10

9/11 – With an introduction by Denis Leary, CNN Films Presents an updated version of the Emmy-winning 2002 documentary by the Naudet brothers, who had the only film crew inside the Towers during the tragedy. They also caught unique footage of the evacuation and the attack itself. Airs: 9/5, 8 p.m. ET

Front Row to History: The 9/11 Classroom – Victor Blackwell presents this CNN Special Report looking at the moment President George W. Bush, sitting before a class of 2nd grade students in Florida, was told a second plane hit the World Trade Center. Blackwell’s report features exclusive interviews with the students and teacher who were there that day. Debuts: 9/5, 10pm ET

9/11, 20 Years Later: Remembrance and Ramifications – The network’s Dana Bash, Wolf Blitzer, Jim Sciutto and Clarissa Ward will take part in a virtual event, offering reflections on 9/11 and sifting through the aftermath of America’s involvement in Afghanistan. Live: 9/9, 12 p.m. ET on CNN.com.

America’s Longest War: What Went Wrong in Afghanistan – Jake Tapper speaks with the generals who led U.S. forces in Afghanistan over two decades, including McChrystal, Petraeus, Allen, McKiernan, McNeill, Eikenberry and Lt. Gen. Barno. Tapper also speaks with veterans and a former Afghan ambassador to the U.S. for their perspectives. Debuts: 9/12, 9 p.m. ET

No Responders Left Behind – Discovery+ presents Jon Stewart’s documentary focused on the aftermath of the terrorist attack. Airs: 9/9

Rebuilding Hope: The Children of 9/11 – Magnolia Network will debut the documentary, directed by Academy Award and Emmy Award-winner Ellen Goosenberg Kent. The film tells the stories of four families with children who were born after their fathers died on September 11. Debuts: 9/7

ESPN
E60: Comeback Season – Sports After 9/11
E60 looks at the role sports played 20 years ago as the country mourned in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. Shot at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York, it will feature appearances by sports figures such as Vinnie Testaverde, Herm Edwards, Mark Messier, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kate Markgraf, Julie Foudy, Joe Andruzzi, Bobby Valentine, Amani Toomer and Howard Cross. Airs: 9/8, 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2

Fox & Friends, America’s Newsroom, The Faulkner Focus & The Story will all have special live coverage related to the anniversary from the Pentagon, Ground Zero and the White House throughout the day on 9/10.

Lost Calls of 9/11 – Anchor Bill Hemmer tells the story of a Houston man who purchased a piece of used computer equipment and then found out that it contained 103 never-heard-before calls from a trading room floor across the street from the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11th. Debuts: 9/5, 10 p.m. ET

I Can Hear You: President Bush at Ground Zero – A Fox Nation documentary hosted by Martha MacCallum focusing on then-President George Bush’s visit to Ground Zero, and his impromptu speech there that became an important part of America’s response to the attacks. Debuts: 9/10

Countdown Bin Laden: Based on his book of the same name, Fox Nation will present Chris Wallace’s examination of a little-known meeting between three CIA officers and agency Director Leon Panetta in August 2010. Their conversation centered on a courier with deep Al Qaeda ties and a mysterious three-story compound at the end of a dead-end street in Abbottabad, Pakistan. It turned out that the compound housed Osama bin Laden, and the meeting set off a 247-day pursuit of the Al Qaeda leader that ended in his death.

HBO
NYC Epicenters 9/11-2021½ – Spike Lee’s four-part documentary series on New York’s resiliency from 9/11 through the pandemic. Airs: Sundays at 10 p.m leading up to the finale on 9/11.

THE HISTORY CHANNEL
9/11: The Legacy – Eight children lost their lives and more than 3,000 kids lost a parent in the attacks of September 11, 2001. The History Channel tells the stories of those who were lost and those who survived in this one-hour documentary. Debuts: 9/10, 7 p.m. ET/PT

Rise and Fall: The World Trade Center – In two hours, Rise and Fall chronicles the conception, construction and destruction of the World Trade Center towers – from the early, ambitious designs to monumental construction challenges to the 1993 bombing and their eventual implosion. Debuts: 9/10, 8 p.m. ET/PT

MLB NETWORK
Remembering the Game for New York – Former Major League Baseball players Mark DeRosa, John Franco, Steve Karsay, Al Leiter, Dave Martinez and Jason Marquis — all natives of the greater New York region — will revisit their experience playing in the September 21, 2001 game between the Braves and the Mets, the first major sporting event held in the New York area as the nation still reeled from the attacks. Debuts: 9/9, 10 p.m. ET

Morning Joe – Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough will begin the network’s special coverage on Friday, with co-host Willie Geist at Ground Zero. Stephanie Ruhle will take over as anchor from Ground Zero at 9 a.m. ET. Hallie Jackson will then lead coverage from Washington, D.C., 10 a.m. ET She will be followed by Craig Melvin, anchoring from Shanksville, Pennsylvania at 11 a.m. ET. Morning Joe Airs: 9/10, 6 a.m. ET.

Andrea Mitchell Reports – Mitchell will lead conversations with individuals at the center of America’s response following the attacks, including former NYC police commissioner Ray Kelly, former FDNY commissioner Thomas Von Essen and former Bush White House Chief of Staff Andy Card. 9/10, 12 p.m. ET

Memory Box: Echoes Of 9/11 – Called “a film about what people felt,” Memory Box weaves together eyewitness accounts of that day that were captured as part of an artist’s project. Debuts: 9/8, 10 p.m. ET. Also on Peacock.

9/11/01: The First Night – The network is presenting select portions of NBC News’ live coverage from the night of Sept. 11, 2001. Debuts: 9/11

9/11: One Day in America – A six-part series, produced in official partnership with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, 9/11: One Day in America chronicles the events of September 2001 from the perspective of first responders and survivors. NBC Nightly News – In the week leading up to the anniversary, the network’s news flagship will have an exclusive interview with the first FDNY chief who arrived on the scene at the World Trade Center, as well as then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Bush White House Chief of Staff Andrew Car. Portions of FDNY chief sit down will also air on Today. Anchor Lester Holt will share a series of essays related to the anniversary. Kate Snow will investigate an organization accused of mishandling health care for 9/11 survivors. Other reports will cover mental health care for members of the military, efforts to identify remains from the attacks and how thinking about national security has changed in the past 20 years. Airs: 10/6-10, 6:30 p.m. ET

Today – Savannah Guthrie will interview kids of first responders who lost their parents on 9/11 and then went on to become first responders themselves. Jenna Bush Hager will speak with children who lost family members on 9/11 who attended “America’s Camp,” which was started in the wake of the tragedy. Airs: 10/6-10, 7 a.m.

Dateline – Lester Holt anchors this episode featuring interviews with family members of Flight 93’s passengers and crew members, including some of their children who meet for the first time to honor their parents. Airs: 9/10, 10 p.m. ET

America After 9/11 – A new, two-hour Frontline special examining the U.S. response to the terrorist attacks and devastating consequences across three presidencies. Debuts: 9/7

Return of the Taliban: A Vice Special Report – Vice explores the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan with exclusive video and interviews from inside the country after the U.S. withdrawal last month. 9/10, 8 p.m. ET/PT

Detainee 101 – Showtime Documentary Films presents Emmy-winner Greg Barker’s latest, a film about the so-called “American Taliban,” John Walker Lindh. Lindh was an American caught working alongside the Taliban in Afghanistan. He served 17 years in prison for providing aid to the enemy. Debuts: 9/10, 9 p.m. ET/PT
