Here are 8 summer splash pads, fountains and pools to visit this weekend amid triple-digit heat

Triple-digit temperatures are in full swing this weekend in San Joaquin County and much across California.

With daytime highs above 100 degrees forecast through Sunday, you may want to stay cool indoors but if you decide to go out and cool off in the water here is where to go and how to stay safe.

But, remember, even though summer is here, so is danger.

"MAJOR Heat Risk is expected to impact the Valley and foothills this weekend. This heat will be DANGEROUS to anyone without cooling & hydration," the National Weather Service in Sacramento stated via Twitter. "If you MUST go outside, remember to take frequent breaks and bring extra water."

Northern San Joaquin Valley was issued an Excessive Heat Watch from Friday through Sunday. Saturday is set to be the hottest day with high temperatures of 108 degrees.

The high ties a record for the area from 1996 for the hottest summer day, according to Accuweather.

The city of Stockton and the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services shared tips online on how to stay safe during very high temperatures:

  • Stay hydrated

  • Wear loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat

  • wear sunscreen and avoid too much sun

Here are eight fountains, splash pads and local pools where you can cool off.
