Since May 21st is National Waitstaff Day, let’s take a look at the stars who were servers before making it big.

Nicki Minaj was fired from her waitress job at Red Lobster for chasing after a customer who took her pen.

“I like dealing with people, but I don’t really like a lot of bulls**t so maybe customer service wasn’t the best job for me,” she told GQ in 2014.

In 2009, Lady Gaga opened up to New York Magazine about her first job as a waitress at a diner in New York City. With the money from her paychecks, she bought a Gucci bag to keep up appearances with her wealthy school peers at the Upper East Side private school she attended.

“I was so excited because all the girls at Sacred Heart always had their fancy purses, and I always had whatever,” she said. “My mom and dad were not buying me a $600 purse."

During a recent chat with Today, Chelsea Handler talked about moving to to L.A. at the age of 19 and the many jobs she had in the food industry. "I waited tables at about 15 restaurants,” she said. “I got fired from a lot."

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Julianne Moore revealed that when she was starting out in the biz, she had to waitress at night to pay the bills. "I’m a worker,” she said. “I was a good waitress because if you ask me to do a job, I’ll do it, no matter what it is.”

In 2011, Jennifer Aniston told Marie Claire about her early days as a server at Jackson Hole Diner in New York.

“I dropped more than one Alpine burger in customers’ laps, and you just do not want all of that Swiss cheese and mushrooms in your pants,” she said. “I wasn’t a good waitress, but I was told that I was very nice and charming, so people liked me anyway."
