Beyond the Sun
1023 Bardstown Road, beyondthesunky.com
It will soon be a brighter day for the 6,500-square-foot building at 1023 Bardstown Road. Beyond the Sun, a two-level restaurant serving American and international fare, is set to open later this month in the former Mellow Mushroom location on Bardstown Road, following a five-year vacancy at the Highlands address.
The concept comes from owner Amet Bullaudy, who also owns Sol Aztecas Mexican Restaurant on Bardstown Road.
Beyond the Sun will have a second-floor patio, a bar with 50 beers on tap, a stage for live music, and other events. Bullaudy has teamed up with music producer, Roberto Dominguez, to plan events at Beyond the Sun where they will host live music and themed nightly events, the Courier Journal previously reported.
Beyond the Sun will be open daily.
Hop Atomica
1318 McHenry St., yelp.com/biz/hop-atomica-louisville
Craft beer, craft spirits and pizza all in one place? That's what you'll find at Hop Atomica, which is expected to open this month in Germantown.
Louisville native Paul Berrier, and Kenneth Suchower, who grew up in Georgia, have teamed up together to bring Hop Atomica, which has one other original location in Savannah Georgia, to Louisville.
The 4,500-square-foot space will include areas for brewing, distilling, and woodfired pizza-making, as well as a patio.
Although the eatery shares a name with the Hop Atomica in Savannah, Berrier and Suchower said they have “full creative license” of the menu and options will be ever-changing, as they previously told the Courier Journal.
“We really wanted to leverage Savannah’s experience,” Berrier said, including the experience of its master brewer, Smith Matthews. “They’ve got all of this expertise on the brewing side. It just made sense.”
Along with roughly 20 rotating beers on tap, Hop Atomica will serve its own spirits, craft cocktails, Kentucky-made wine, and a variety of pizzas.
Jack in the Box
3232 Bardstown Road, jackinthebox.com
Jack in the Box opened its first location in the Louisville market in October at 10700 Dixie Highway, according to the franchise's website. A second location at 3232 Bardstown Road is expected to follow in the coming weeks.
Jack in the Box serves burgers, fried chicken sandwiches and salads, tacos, fries and sides as well as breakfast, late-night food, shakes and desserts. The "Classic Buttery Jack" burger is the restaurant's flagship burger, made with melted garlic herb butter on a quarter-pound beef patty with Swiss cheese, ketchup, mayonnaise, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and a toasted brioche bun.
Jaggers
13801 English Villa Dr., eatjaggers.com
Jaggers, a restaurant from the founder of Texas Roadhouse, has already made a splash in Louisville with its first spot at 6464 Dutchmans Parkway, which opened in 2021. The chain, which serves burgers, chicken tenders, salads and milkshakes, is set to open another location in Middletown on Nov. 15, according to its corporate site.
Ten20 Craft Brewery Clarksville
1400 Main St., Suite 101, ten20brewery.com
Adding to its three Louisville locations, Ten20 Craft Brewery will open a spot in Clarksville, Ind. on Nov. 1, according to its website. Ten20 opened its first location in Butchertown in 2020 and expanded with spots in Anchorage and the Highlands. The brewery is known for brews such as the 1834 American Premium Lager and the Storyteller Hazy IPA.
Located at 1400 Main St., the 3,400-square-foot taproom is the first project completed as part of the ongoing South Clarksville Redevelopment Plan, according to the City of Clarksville and Cory Hoehn, co-president of the Cornerstone Group.
The Ten20 taproom in Clarksville will offer both indoor and outdoor spaces with views of the Ohio River and Louisville’s skyline and will be the fourth location for the brand.
The Misfit Lou
119 S. 7th St., misfitlou.com, opening in late November
Following some delays, The Misfit Lou is on track to open in late November, according to owners Martin Svab and Ryan Hughes-Svab. The Misfit Lou will bring a bar/restaurant and music venue focusing on jazz, blues and bluegrass to the downtown building at 119 S. 7th St., formerly occupied by Jimmy Can't Dance and Another Place Sandwich Shop. The Misfit's downstairs area will be a space for showing movies, too. It plans to offer craft beer and cocktails, plus sandwiches, sausages and other fare.
The Post
1759 Bardstown Road, thepostlouisville.com
A takeout-only location of this Germantown pizza and beer staple is planning to open in the Highlands by Nov. 10.
The Post's carry-out store at 1759 Bardstown Road will be next to Pivot Brewing, El Mundo, and Darling's cocktail bar in the Shops at Deer Park. The space was previously occupied by Rawnaissance, a vegan dessert shop.
After nearly nine years on Goss Avenue, co-owner Laura Neely, said The Post already has "kind of an established base," and the team is looking forward to the expansion, as previously reported by the Courier Journal.
The Post's goal is consistency across both locations, Neely previously said, and part of achieving that goal will be limiting options at Bardstown Road.
"We're going to really just focus on pizzas and slices and not have the grill program that's on our menu at the current store," she said.
