An 8-year-old boy in Oklahoma was critically injured after a gunman opened fire on his family’s vehicle Sunday, according to multiple reports.

The boy, identified as Zachariah Bannister in reports from KSWO and News 9, was riding in the car with his family in Lawton, Okla., when he was shot in the head, police say.

Zack’s grandmother told KSWO that the boy’s mother had put the car in reverse so he and his brother could look at Christmas lights when she saw a green laser and gunfire erupted.

”His eyes were closed,” she told the outlet. “He was leaned over to the right side. I [saw] blood and [Zack’s brother] said that Zack was bleeding and screamed, along with myself, ‘drive mom, drive.’”
