Drake took a big risk by performing a cover song, “Don’t Leave Me Loving You,” as opposed to singing one of his originals. Simon immediately called him out, and even scolded Howie for “bad mentoring.” Heidi disagreed, proclaiming the young artist “made a good choice” in his song selection. Well, the studio audience seemed to agree with Simon, as Drake was one of the four acts to be eliminated this week.

While Drake Milligan, Piff the Magic Dragon, MerseyGirls and Wes-P all received bad news, the following six acts advanced to the next round: Vardanyan BrothersSheldon RileyGrace GoodAdrian Stoica & Hurricane and Preacher Lawson via the audience vote, and Ramadhani Brothers thanks to Howie’s Golden Buzzer. The ultimate champion will win the $250,000 grand prize.

In the comments section of our poll, “AGT” fans were in an uproar over Drake’s early ouster. Susan Armor wrote, “Drake Milligan was so deserving. The song was amazing and his vocals are none other. Simon’s scathing remarks hurt his chances. I predict this song will be a #1 hit song in 2024.” Kayleeanne Cookwilliams agreed, saying, “Drake was the best performance of the night and the most deserving act to go through that got eliminated. It’s still blows my mind that he didn’t make it.” And Nelda Alcala noted, “Drake Milligan was truly robbed. His choice of song, that golden voice and his stage presence definitely speaks volumes. BIG mistake, BIG, BIG mistake!”
