74-Year-Old Rod Stewart Accused of Striking Security Guard at Luxury Resort

Rod Stewart and his son Sean Stewart teamed up on New Year's Eve, only it wasn't for a musical show, it was for an incident that led to battery charges being filed against the father/son duo. Rod and Sean Stewart have been accused by police in Palm Beach, FL of committing simple battery against an employee in an incident that went down on NYE.

According to the police report, the alleged attack went down at The Breakers, a fancy resort in Palm Beach, when the Stewart family, including Rod and Sean, tried to enter a private event at a children’s area at the resort.

The Altercation

The report, first obtained by PEOPLE, claims a witness told police they “observed a group of people near the check-in table of the private event who were trying to enter the area but were unauthorized to do so."

The witness claimed the group "began to get loud and cause a scene" and refused to follow instructions by employees to leave the area.

The report states that 39-year-old Sean got “about nose-to-nose” with the employee, and then “shoved” them backward.

The 74-year-old "Forever Young" singer then allegedly stepped in and slugged the employee in the left-area of the ribcage. Cops were called and Sean and Rod ended up having to explain what went down.

The report states Rod explained that the employee "became argumentative with his family, which in turn caused them to become agitated." He also allegedly apologized for the blowup after everything cooled down.

Unfortunately for the Stewarts, the police also have sworn statements signed by two witnesses of the attack, who are also employees of the resort. They reportedly intend to fully cooperate with prosecution.

Video Evidence

The Breakers also picked up the incident on their security cameras, and turned them over to the police. According to the report, the footage appears to show Rod and Sean as the "primary aggressors" during the altercation.

Both father and son have been officially charged with misdemeanor battery and are ordered to appear in the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Complex on Feb. 5.

It's unclear if the security guard suffered any injuries over the punch thrown by Stewart, but he's probably lucky he didn't get one of the singer's Hot Legs to the mid-section.
