The Beyond Van Gogh immersive experience, based off of a third of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh's collection, opens in Pensacola on Saturday, August 5.

Opening day tickets are nearly sold out but the exhibit remains in Pensacola until Sept. 9.

The Beyond Van Gogh exhibit brings the post-impressionist artists work to life as it blends 300 of his pieces into a mixed display of still and dynamic art. They are also offering a VR experience named "A life in letters," that they say will immerse people in the mind of Van Gogh as they embark on a VR journey sifting through his letters detailing his artistic process and how he navigates his mental reality.

Who is hosting Beyond Van Gogh?

Beyond Van Gogh Pensacola will be held in building six of the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds. Parking will be available. Staff recommends that visitors not bring food, drinks or bags.

What will I see at Beyond Van Gogh?

The exhibit breaks industry barriers by incorporating a blend of still and moving art into its presentation. The high-resolution depiction of Van Gogh's artworks will be made of four trillion pixels that make the art disappear and come alive.

Since the show is projected all around you, it is likely that they'll make use of all 30,000 square feet of the exhibit to ensure that people feel like they've stepped into one of Van Gogh's masterpieces.

Do I need tickets for Beyond Van Gogh?

Tickets are necessary to enter and tour the exhibit. They are non-refundable. Children 4 years and younger do not need tickets to attend. Visitors will receive their tickets from Showclix through e-mail and can view them at any time using Showclix's app.

If visitors miss their ticket time, they will likely not be accommodated and a refund will not be issued. If you need to reschedule your ticket time for another slot, it may be possible to depending on availability. This will cost an extra $8 and must be done at least 24 hours prior to the original start time.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door, but door tickets are subject to availability. Prices start at $49.99 plus fees for adults but will vary by the number of benefits the ticket's level entails:

When was the show made?

The Beyond Van Gogh exhibit was originally conceptualized in the mind of French-Canadian Creative Director Mathieu St-Arnaud. He and his team at Montreal's Normal Studio later created the exhibit in 2020.

Where is Beyond Van Gogh going next?

Beyond Van Gogh is a traveling exhibit that has been featured on three different continents thus far and 33 U.S. cities. Four of the exhibits are currently open in the U.S. and more Florida locations are planned including those coming to Tallahassee and West Palm Beach.

Exact dates for the exhibit in future cities have not been shared, but you can register for pre-sale notifications.

COVID-19 safety and accessibility measures

To reduce possible transmission of COVID-19 within the exhibit's space, Beyond Van Gogh has recommended that masks be worn inside of the venue and have implemented contactless payment options to help as well.

Wheelchairs and scooters are not available for rent at the exhibit, but the venue is wheelchair accessible. Service animals are allowed on the premises but not pets.

Beyond Van Gogh's lighting may cause discomfort for people with epilepsy or other medical conditions. Their immersive room's slightly louder pitch can also cause discomfort to people who have a sensitivity to loud sounds. There are no accommodations in place for people in need of assistance, it is recommended to sort them out prior to attending.
