Here are 7 sandwich places on Cape Cod readers suggested to visit
The Cape Cod Times celebrated National Sandwich Day with a story last week about some notable sandwiches on Cape.
Asked to contribute their favorite places, members of the Times' Facebook group, Good Stuff at Cape Cod Restaurants, came up with nearly a dozen more suggestions. You may find one of your favorite spots on the list or perhaps come across a new-to-you place to try.
Some recommended sandwich spots, in no particular order:
Ocean Street Cafe & Deli
Address: 10 Ocean St., Hyannis
Contact: 508-775-0708; oceanstreetcafe.com
Hours: 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily
Of note: Tucked in the small storefront that once housed The Prodigal Son coffee house, Ocean Street Cafe has a dozen sandwiches from eggplant parm to Philly cheesesteak, as well as homemade soups (Hungarian mushroom is especially popular.) There are also foods from around the world, accompanied by beer and wine from Eastern European countries.

Lambert's has a second location, Lambert's Rainbow Fruit,1000 West Main St., Centerville, 508-778-4066, https://www.facebook.com/Lamberts-Rainbow-Fruit-143416912358471, that is open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. In addition to great sandwiches, both locations are markets with produce and groceries.

There are also some celebrity creations, including sandwiches dedicated to the C.C. Bear (Boar’s Head Honey Ham, roast beef, bacon), Great White Shark (chipotle chicken breast and bacon) and a Wicked Hot sandwich with jerk-seasoned turkey breast. Most sandwiches run between $7.99 and $9.99; you can order sandwiches by name or number (there are more than two dozen varieties) in person, by phone or online.

Contact: 508-771-4835; https://keltickitchen.com/
Hours: 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily
Of note: The Keltic Kitchen's tagline is "it's where to get a traditional Irish breakfast," but it is also home to more than a dozen sandwiches. The Monte Cristo earned high marks from at least one member of Good Stuff at Cape Cod Restaurants. And after enjoying lunch, you can check out the gift shop with crystal and linen from Ireland, as well as traditional foods to cook at home.
Timmy's Roast Beef

Contact: 508-775-9633; http://www.timmysroastbeef.com/
Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays
Of note: It's no secret that seafood is king on Cape Cod, but Timmy's has a treat for those who prefer the beefy bounty of the land: a dozen sandwiches — half of which contain fresh-roasted roast beef sliced paper-thin and piled high to create a wonderful texture. Available on a roll or as a grinder (some say sub) and in a super size. Try a side of onion rings with your favorite sandwich.

Of note: Daily specials are listed on the Facebook page for Holly's Deli and this week included a $7 BBQ bacon cheddar burger on an onion roll and a half-dozen homemade soups (they had me at chicken dumpling!). The regular menu is there also, with at least four dozen sandwiches and a tagline that sums things up nicely: "If we have it, you can have it."

Of note: The Mercantile, often called "The Merc," has a reputation for terrific sandwiches and busy lunches. You will want to visit soon as the Dennis Village eatery closes for the season Nov. 28. The website advises that no phone or online orders are taken on weekend afternoons. Most sandwiches range from $7 to $9 and several have fanciful names, including the Merchant of Dennis (salami with Swiss and provolone) and the French Connection (turkey and brie).
