7 must-see shows at Minnesota Fringe Festival’s closing weekend

The 2023 Minnesota Fringe Festival wraps up its 11-day run on Sunday, capping 30 years of debuting more than 100 hour-length stage shows, from musicals, magic acts and kids’ shows to burlesque, drama and horror.

Pioneer Press reviewers took in Fringe performances throughout Minneapolis from opening weekend onward, and here — in their view — were the “must see” shows, all of which are ongoing.

“Float,” a one-woman show about a self-important wellness guru who tends to get in her own way. Presented by Juliana Frick at Augsburg Mainstage; 1 p.m. Saturday.

“Write Me Letters,” a musical about a young man who exchanges letters with his grandmother. Presented by Noah Gundermann at Augsburg Mainstage; 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

“101 Goofin’ Things,” in which a duo of many talents showcases kid-friendly antics based on audience preference and participation. Presented by Goof Goof at Theatre in the Round; 10 p.m. Saturday.

“Pearl and Eugene,” a musical comedy about two semi-retired showpeople who take their schtick to senior centers. Presented by Clucklesworth Productions at Mixed Blood Theater; 1 p.m. Sunday.

“Starved” is based on the true-story of a torturous experiment conducted on human test subjects at the University of Minnesota in the 1940s. Presented by Pat O’Brien and Richard Chin at Augsburg Mainstage; 4 p.m. Sunday.

“5-Step Guide to Being German,” a comedic one-man show that doesn’t shy from delving into guilt and nationalism. Presented by Paco Erhard at the Rarig Center’s Thrust Stage; 4 p.m. Sunday.

“A Girl Scout’s Guide to Exorcism” explores fraying friendships and overzealous environmental advocacy, combining elements of both horror and comedy. Presented by Melancholics Anonymous at Rarig Center Arena; 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
