Earl Sweatshirt: Feet of Clay [Tan Cressida/Warner]

Earl Sweatshirt calls Feet of Clay, his first release on Warner Records, “a collection of observations and feelings recorded during the death throes of a crumbling empire.” The project, which is just over 15 minutes long, features guest spots from Charlotte’s MAVI and Newark’s Mach-Hommy. The new project follows last year’s incredible Some Rap Songs.

Sudan Archives: Athena [Stones Throw]

On her debut full-length album Athena, the Cincinnati-born, Los Angeles-based Sudan Archives further develops her unique blend of self-taught violin looping, hip-hop beats, and electronic gloss. She released the single “Confessions” in late August. Revisit Pitchfork’s Rising feature “Sudan Archives: She’s Different” from 2017.

Miranda Lambert: Wildcard [Vanner/RCA Nashville]

Wildcard is the seventh solo album from Texas country star Miranda Lambert. It follows 2016’s The Weight of These Wings, as well as Interstate Gospel, her 2018 album with Pistol Annies. Check out Lambert’s music video for “It All Comes Out in the Wash.”

Gang Starr: One of the Best Yet [TTT/Gang Starr Enterprises, LLC]

One of the Best Yet is the first album in 16 years from hip-hop duo Gang Starr. It’s also their first project since co-founder Guru died in 2010. DJ Premier produced all 16 tracks on One of the Best Yet, which boasts guest spots from J. Cole, J.I.D, Q-Tip, M.O.P., and more.

Cate Le Bon / Bradford Cox: Myths 004 EP [Mexican Summer]

Cate Le Bon and Deerhunter’s Bradford Cox began their Myths 004 EP when they were the musicians in residence at the Marfa Myths festival in 2018. In a statement, Le Bon said, “We committed ourselves to embracing the chaos, surrendering to all moments and moods that travelled through. It’s a crude holiday scrapbook shared by all involved, an amalgamation of the changes in mood and light that shaped the days.”

Michael Kiwanuka: KIWANUKA [Interscope]

Office Culture: A Life of Crime [Whatever’s Clever]

A Life of Crime is the second album from Office Culture, the Brooklyn-based quartet of vocalist/keyboardist Winston Cook-Wilson, guitarist/keyboardist Ian Wayne, bassist Charlie Kaplan, and drummer Pat Kelly. (Full disclosure: Cook-Wilson is also an occasional contributor to Pitchfork.) On A Life of Crime, the band’s slick, easygoing rock songs combine loungey textures with AM radio serenity.
