A mugshot of 6ix9ine has surfaced following the rapper’s arrest in the Dominican Republic on assault charges.

According to a social media post by criminal lawyer Felix Portes Nunez on Saturday (Oct. 14), the Brooklyn native was detained while attempting to depart the island on a private jet. Authorities arrested 6ix9ine on a warrant related to accusations of causing physical injuries and sending threats to two alleged victims who claim he assaulted him over a dispute involving his girlfriend.

Nunez later revealed that the rapper had been placed on the Dominican Republic’s “MIGRATION ALERT” and that his whereabouts were “unknown” at the time of the post. On Sunday (Oct. 15), DJ Akademiks posted footage of 6ix9ine’s arrest on Instagram, which saw a mob of islanders gathered outside of a building the 27-year-old was being led out of by police. Hours later, Akademiks posted a mugshot of the rapper taken in what appears to be a police station in the Dominican Republic.

The rapper has had numerous run-ins with the law since emerging on the rap scene in 2017 with his breakout single “Gummo,” which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified double platinum. In 2018, he was arrested on racketeering, weapons and drug charges in connection to a federal investigation against the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, whom 6ix9ine was publicly affiliated with.

In 2019, 6ix9ine struck a plea deal in exchange for his testimony against multiple members of the gang, resulting in a two year prison sentence. The hitmaker was released from prison on early release in April 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to his latest run-in with the law, 6ix9ine was arrested in Florida for failing to appear in court. That arrest, which occurred in August, stemmed from a traffic stop back in June, during which he was ticketed for speeding, not having proof of insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle. Bodycam footage of the incident also surfaced on social media and other platforms.
