This 67-Story Luxury Hotel Will Be the Tallest Occupiable Building in Nevada — And It’s Accepting Reservations Now!

Nearly two decades after it was first announced, the Fontainebleau Las Vegas is nearly ready to open its doors!

The 67-story, $3.7-billion luxury resort and casino — brought to life by Fontainebleau Development and named after its sister hotel in Miami — is in its final stages of construction, according to a press release.

Following its opening, the long-awaited hotel will become the tallest occupiable building on the Las Vegas Strip — and in the state of Nevada!

Jeffrey Soffer, chairman and chief executive officer of Fontainebleau Development, first announced the resort in 2005 and originally planned to open in 2008, per The Los Angeles Times.

Due to recession-related complications, however, the building stood unopened and “70 percent complete” for over a decade, per The Hollywood Reporter. After reacquiring the property in 2021 in partnership with Koch Real Estate Investments, Soffer and Fontainebleau Development were back in business.

Now, 18 years after it was first announced, the hotel has an official opening date, Dec. 13, and its 3,644 rooms and suites are open to online reservations.

“With Fontainebleau Las Vegas, we have transcended aspiration and set the stage for a new era of luxury hospitality defined by innovation, sophistication, and opulence, with an inextricable link to our roots at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach,” Soffer said in a press release.

Soffer added: “We are thrilled to introduce many of the world-class amenities we are recognized for in Miami alongside our new-to-market offerings at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.”

Residing on nearly 25 acres, some of the record-breaking resort’s amenities include a 14,000-square-foot fitness center and a 55,000-square-foot spa.

Lapis Spa, which shares the same name as the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, will offer 44 treatment rooms, 11 luxurious suites, a purifying salt cave, and hydrotherapy lounges, as well as an infrared sauna and an“invigorating event” sauna, per a release.

The Fontainebleau also offers a whopping six-acre elevated pool deck, which is home to a variety of amenities including seven pool experiences, five bars, two restaurants and an over 2,000-square-foot gaming area.

The hotel’s 150,000 square feet of gaming space — which features soaring 42-foot ceilings — is outfitted with 1,300 slot machines and 128 table games. The resort also offers a three-level, over 90,000-square-foot theater that can hold up to 3,800 people.

A 96,500-square-foot luxury retail district will live on the Fontainebleau's first two levels, and the hotel will also host 550,000 square feet of customizable meeting space, located both indoors and outdoors.

Designed by John Rawlins in collaboration with an in-house design team, the resort’s accommodations seek to evoke an “understated, timeless elegance,” per a release.

The rooms and suites’ color palette consists of blue, silver and hints of coral, with metallic accents in the form of mercury glass and brass details.

Another Fontainebleau highlight is its collection of 36 restaurants and bars headed by famed chefs and restaurateurs including Gabriela Cámara, David Grutman, David Rodolitz, Alan Yau, Evan Funke, and Josh Capon, per a release.

“Our culinary program is the convergence of tradition and innovation, honoring Fontainebleau’s rich 70-year legacy of excellence while also pushing the boundaries for guests with an appetite for adventurous and unforgettable dining,” said Brett Mufson, president of Fontainebleau Development, who notes that the collection of eateries is like a “symphony.”

“We want to ensure that every moment and theme – from elevated to exceptional, from high-octane to chill – harmonizes seamlessly with their desires and tastes,” Mufson added.

The hotel’s bar and restaurant selection includes spots like European-inspired coffee shop Café Cuto, Chyna Club (a Chinese restaurant with a “cozy, clubby atmosphere”), steakhouse Papi Steak and The Tavern, a bar-restaurant adjacent to the casino offering everything from classic bar food to sushi.

A European piazza-inspired food hall, Promenade, will also provide guests with a varied menu featuring bagels, burgers, sashimi, New York-style pizza, and more.

The long-awaited resort also employed the help of Miami club and restaurant owner David Grutman to bring his legendary nightlife presence to the Strip with nightclub LIV.

Grutman — whose establishments are frequented by celebrities including Drake, Rihanna, and Justin Bieber, per The Hollywood Reporter — will also debut a day club, LIV BEACH, at the resort next spring.

“The opening of Fontainebleau Las Vegas marks a significant milestone in our company’s legacy, as we look to create an era-defining moment in Las Vegas history,” Mufson said.
