Two Distant Strangers (2020)

An Oscar winner, this short film follows a Groundhog Day trope where a young Black man named Carter James (Joey Badass) is shot and killed by NYPD police officer, Merk (Andrew Howard) in a time loop. Though police brutality stories have been told consistently, what makes Two Distant Strangers different (and, honestly, much more powerful) is the emotional scars behind both figures: the man who’s being killed and man who's killing. —MC
