All we've ever wanted is an *NSYNC reunion. And now, it's happening! The group confirmed on Sept. 14, 2023, that they recorded a new tune for the Trolls Band Together soundtrack, dropping Sept. 29.

In the days prior, the Internet was abuzz with the belief that the bandmates — Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone — had reunited to record after several Trolls Band Together posters appeared in New York City featuring the first letter of the *NSYNC logo and a QR code. When fans scanned the QR code, it took them to this site, where a whistling tune played when one hit "play." (Timberlake stars in the Trolls franchise, now on its third film.)

The film's trailer — which features hilarious boy band references — also notably features this language: "We’re out of sync. We’ve gone from boys to men, and now there’s only one direction for us to go: the backstreets."

Regardless of what the band has planned going forward, anytime is a good time to look back on the guys' reunions through the years, most recently at the 2023 MTV VMAs and again on a Sept. 21 episode of Hot Ones. Here, a quick recap of some of the more memorable moments.

The 2013 MTV VMAs

Fans went wild in 2013 when the band briefly performed together at the MTV VMAs in Brooklyn, New York, on behalf of Video Vanguard Award recipient Timberlake.

As Timberlake sang a medley of his singles, his former bandmates appeared, joining him for some bars from "Girlfriend" and "Bye, Bye, Bye."

In his acceptance speech, Timberlake thanked his team and his family, and added, “But most of all, half of the Moonmen I ever won, I won with those four guys right there. So above all else, we can keep it at my house, but I’m going to share this award with them.”

Later that year, in November, the bandmates got all dressed up to serve as ushers at Kirkpatrick's wedding to Karly Skladany.

"Obviously, they knew what this meant to me, and it was really special that we could all be back together," the groom told PEOPLE. "It was like no time had passed. I wanted them to share the day with us."

Though there wasn't singing involved (except for "Happy Birthday"), the guys came together in 2016 for bandmate Chasez's 40th birthday bash at The Nice Guy in Los Angeles.

Timberlake posted a photo of the get-together on Instagram, captioning the shot, “And if you don’t know, now you know.”

“The guys spent the entire night together. They all sat in a group and just reunited, relived and had such a ball. They were laughing and smiling all night long,” an onlooker told PEOPLE at the time.

Their Walk of Fame Star Ceremony

The singers hit a major milestone in 2018 when they were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ellen DeGeneres and Carson Daly were among the celebrities who honored the men with speeches, before turning the mic over.

“These four guys mean so much to me,” Timberlake told the crowd before addressing his bandmates. “We’re really a family and the memories that we have and the times that we’ve shared and the families that we’ve built from it … I don’t think I could really put into words how much the four of you mean to me.”

It happened to be April 30, so before the ceremony ended, Chasez grabbed the mic, singing, “It’s gonna be May!"

Minus Timberlake, the band joined Ariana Grande on stage at Coachella for an epic set that included "Tearin' Up My Heart," in addition to the songstress' "Break Up with Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored."

"Thanks @arianagrande for having us ... was a great time and a chance to perform with my brothers once again," Fatone said on Instagram, while Bass shared another selfie, writing, "Well that was fun! 🙌🏼 Thank you @arianagrande for letting us play in the desert with you."

Lance Bass' Birthday

During COVID lockdown, the guys confirmed they had weekly Zoom chats, and shared a glimpse at one (minus Timberlake) for Bass' 41st birthday on May 5, 2020.

Fatone, Kirkpatrick and Chasez surprised Bass for what they called "Lance Bass's *NSYNC-O De Mayo Birthday Bash" one day after his milestone, and falling on Cinco de Mayo.

All of the band members received a special "*NSYNC-O De Mayo" birthday box filled with a mini piñata and a small glass with Bass' iconic hairstyle on it.

"You know what the best part about this birthday party is? That I can do the whole thing with no pants on," Bass laughed while sitting next to a blue and green birthday cake.

The Arrival of Bass' Twins

Shortly after Bass and husband Michael Turchin welcomed twins Violet Betty and Alexander James in 2021, "uncles" Fatone and Kirkpatrick came by Bass' L.A. home to meet them.

The newly minted father captioned the precious shot, "Two of the best dads I know."

Fatone is dad to daughters Briahna, 22, and Kloey, 13, while Kirkpatrick is dad to son Nash, 6 next month.

Ryan Cabrera's Wedding

Talk about a blast from the past! When MTV staple Ryan Cabrera married WWE star Alexa Bliss in Palm Desert, California, in 2022, Fatone, Kirkpatrick and Bass hit the stage during the reception for a rendition of "Bye, Bye, Bye."

"Who said a Boyband couldn't have a kick ass girl. (In a wedding dress)," Bass captioned the clip, which also had the phrase "A few drinks into the wedding" written over it.

"Congrats @alexa_bliss_wwe_ and @ryancabrera on your special day," he continued. "I highly suggest everyone attend a party that is half wrestlers and half pop stars. It's quite a night!"

They're baaaack!

At the 2023 MTV VMAs, the fivesome hit the stage to present Taylor Swift with the award for best pop video for "Anti-Hero."

"I’m not doing well pivoting from this to this," Swift said after taking her trophy. "I had your dolls, I like, what … are you doing something? What’s going to happen now?" she asked. "They’re going to do something and I need to know what it is."

After she regained her composure (and received some friendship bracelets from Bass!), she added, "You’re pop personified so to receive this from your golden pop hands is really, it’s too much."

Following the VMAs moment, the guys continued pushing out TikTok and Instagram content that had fans melting (and melting down!).

It culminated in a group interview on a Sept. 21 episode of Hot Ones, in which the guys addressed the "It's gonna be May" meme and suffered through some seriously spicy wings.
