6 'Games of Thrones' Characters Who Got Exactly What Was Coming to Them

If there’s one thing you can practically always count on when watching Game of Thrones, it’s that there will be death. Someone or something — or someones and somethings, plural — will meet their demise, often untimely. Some of these are tragic and tug on the ol’ heartstrings (which, TBH, almost sounds like a way someone would die on the show). But others? Well, some GoT character deaths are strangely satisfying. Basically, these characters were highly unlikable, so they got what was coming to them. Winter might be coming, but karma already came and claimed her spoils.

Ser Meryn Trant

This Kingsguard member often helped Joffrey abuse Sansa Stark, and he murdered the sword master of Arya Stark. The latter of these led Arya to vow she’d kill him out of vengeance. Not only did she do just that, but she managed to in a moment that left zero doubt he deserved it — he was abusing very young girls in a brothel, so Arya disguised herself as one and then brutally (like, cut out his eyes, stab him and slit his throat) murdered him.

Stannis Baratheon

Daenerys’ thirst for power pales in comparison to the ruthless drive of Stannis. Sure, he was the rightful heir of the throne since all of Cersei and Jaime Lannister’s children were products of their parents’ incestuous relationship. But when Stannis fails to secure the Iron Throne, he opts to burn his own daughter alive thinking it might help him achieve the power he so desperately desires. He also murdered his younger brother Renly using a magical shadow assassin. So, yeah, everyone pretty much cheered when Brienne Tarth beheaded him.

Joffrey Baratheon

Show us a Game of Thrones fan who didn’t want Joffrey to die, and we’ll show you one who wasn’t paying attention. Because, to put it simply, Joffrey was a prick. Always. Happily, he only made it four seasons into GoT. He died after drinking poisoned wine at his own wedding — and, really, how hated must you be if someone kills you on your wedding day?

Tywin Lannister

If we’re really being honest, we’re still not over the way Tywin double-crossed his son, Tyrion, which ultimately led to the death of Shae. First, Tywin sentences his own son to die. But when Tyrion manages to escape, he finds that his father also bedded arguably the one woman he ever loved. So, Tyrion does what any reasonable person would do: He confronts his dastardly dad, who’s sittin’ on the pooper, and he shoots him with a crossbow right then and there.

Ramsay Bolton

While there is no shortage of horrible, awful, no-good people who’ve existed on Game of Thrones, Ramsay undoubtedly had a special place in hell waiting for him. He tortures people. He maims them. Not to mention he repeatedly rapes Sansa during their arranged marriage. So, it seems only fitting that she got to watch as he was eaten alive by his own hounds. Good doggies!

Baelish Littlefinger

Let’s be real: No one was sad or surprised to see Littlefinger go on GoT’s season seven finale. Sansa accused him of a string of crimes, including killing Lysa Arryn (the Stark girls’ aunt), conspiring to kill Jon Arryn (their uncle) and more. And since the Three-Eyed Raven had shared evidence in his visions of as much, Sansa declared Littlefinger guilty and Arya cut his throat. But c’mon, no tears were shed over this manipulator.
