Julianna Barwick: Healing Is a Miracle [Ninja Tune]

Healing Is a Miracle is ambient composer Julianna Barwick’s first studio album on the iconic London label Ninja Tune. The new album, which follows 2016’s Will, has collaborations with Sigur Rós’ Jónsi, Nosaj Thing, and Mary Lattimore. Check out Barwick’s video for the Jónsi collaboration “In Light.”

My Morning Jacket: The Waterfall II [ATO]

It’s been five years since My Morning Jacket released their last studio album, The Waterfall. Now, they’ve unveiled its sequel: The Waterfall II. The 10-track LP includes My Morning Jacket’s 2016 protest song “Magic Bullet” and “Welcome Home,” which first appeared on 2011’s iTunes Session EP.

Margo Price: That’s How Rumors Get Started [Loma Vista]

Margo Price produced That’s How Rumors Get Started with Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson. Price was forced to delay the record two months due to COVID-19. In the time between the original release date (May 8) and now, Price released the live album Perfectly Imperfect at The Ryman and covered Bob Dylan on CBS This Morning: Saturday.

Apollo Brown / Ché Noir: As God Intended [Mello Music Group]

As God Intended, the first full-length from Detroit producer Apollo Brown and Buffalo rapper Ché Noir, includes guest spots from Black Thought, Skyzoo, and others. In his Pitchfork review of the album Phillip Mlynar writes, “As God Intended has a depth that reveals Ché as a savvy and earnest lyricist, adept at linking dramatic scenes to the wider socio-political shackles that might prompt them.”

Kacy Hill: Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again [self-released]

Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again is the sophomore album from Los Angeles–based artist Kacy Hill. The LP follows her 2017 debut Like a Woman, which was executive-produced by Kanye West. Hill co-produced all but one song on the new album; Francis and the Lights, BJ Burton, and Jim-E Stack also contribute heavily to Is It Selfish. Asher Gamedze: Dialectic Soul [On the Corner]

South African drummer Asher Gamedze’s new record Dialectic Soul arrives just three months after his prior release, State of Emergence Suite, which had the first three tracks on Dialectic Soul. The new six-song free jazz record features Thembinkosi Mavimbela on bass, tenor saxophonist Buddy Wells, and Robin Fassie-Kock on trumpet, as well as vocals from Nono Nkoane.
