50 Cent has a thrilling new book in store, perfect for fans of heist movies and detective books.

The Grammy-winning rapper shared, exclusively with PEOPLE, that he has a new novel hitting shelves this year. The Accomplice, the first in a two-book deal, will be published in September through Amistad, an imprint of HarperCollins.

“I want to bring a big heist story to the page,” the author, born Curtis Jackson, says in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “My debut fiction novel and its follow-up series will be captivating.”

Billed as a cross between NBC's Prime Suspect and Netflix's Money Heist, The Accomplice follows Nia Robinson, an FBI agent within the robbery division. Robinson has personal reasons for wanting to join the agency — her father, one of the first Black men to achieve an executive banking position within his organization, was accused and later convicted of embezzlement. Robinson is determined to clear his name, and to put away Desmond Robert, a “robbery mastermind.”

The Accomplice is going to surprise readers in wonderful ways,” says Amistad Executive Editor Patrik Henry Bass. “It’s everything you want in a page-turner: vivid writing, complex, multi-dimensional characters, many plot twists, witty dialogue and Curtis’ inimitable charm and authenticity.”

In addition to The Accomplice, Jackson is also the bestselling author of a number of nonfiction books. In 2020, he published Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter, which details his pivot from music to the television industry.

Jackson shares the lessons he’s learned through executive producing and starring in the Starz series Power, as well as how he inked one of the most “lucrative” deals in premium cable history, per the book’s description, giving insight into his entrepreneurship. He has also written books like the fitness-focused Formula 50: A 6-Week Workout and Nutrition Plan That Will Transform Your Life.
