50 Cent pulls plug on Phoenix concert amid extreme heat, temps expected to hit 117 degrees

The soaring temperatures in Arizona are even too hot for one of hip-hop’s hottest stars.
50 Cent has called off Tuesday night’s concert at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix amid a warning of extreme heat issued by the national weather service.
“Due to extreme heat, the show tomorrow in Phoenix, AZ is being postponed,” the Grammy- and Emmy-winning rapper wrote on Instagram late Monday night. “For anyone who would like a refund, please go to point of purchase for instructions. I’ll be back in Arizona soon! 116 degrees is dangerous for everyone.”
According to data updated Tuesday morning, the Phoenix area is expecting to reach a high of 117 degrees, with a low of just 93.
The National Weather Service announced that a new temperature record was set Monday, posting on social media: “The record high temperature for Phoenix has already been broken for today as of 12:45 pm early this afternoon.”
50 Cent — whose real name is Curtis Jackson — is in the middle of The Final Lap Tour 2023, in celebration of the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough debut album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin.’” The global jaunt, which kicked off July 21 in Salt Lake City, has already made stops in Toronto, New York and Virginia Beach, Virginia.
The North American leg, featuring Busta Rhymes and Jeremih, is expected to wrap in Detroit on Sept. 27 before heading to Europe for 25 additional dates.
A rep for promoter Live Nation deferred to the 48-year-old “Heat” lyricist’s social media announcement when probed for further details about the Arizona concert cancellation.
