Jul. 6—Art exhibits

Receptions are planned this weekend for two exhibits by local artists:

—"Bloom," with works in various mediums by Suzanne Panchura of Greensburg, 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg. The exhibit, running through July 25, is part of the "Picture This" exhibit, a partnership between the library and Greensburg Art Center.

—"Hope," with works by Becky Mormack of Unity and Nancy Rusbosin of Hempfield, 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Greensburg Art Center, 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. Works in the exhibit are inspired by a Nigerian woman who has started initiatives to feed, clothe, educate and advocate for the people of her country.

The exhibit runs through July 28, when a closing reception is planned for 5 to 7 p.m.

Who's got talent?

Performers will vie for the title of Hempfield's Most Talented during a competition beginning at 6 p.m. Friday in the amphitheater at Hempfield Park, 220 Forbes Trail Road. Participants of all ages will present a wide array of talents including singing and dancing.

Judges will include "America's Got Talent" semifinalist Aubrey Burchell of North Huntingdon and Aaron Mykel Gray, co-owner of Practice Makes Perfect Studio in Greensburg. The event is held as part of Hempfield's yearlong 250th anniversary celebration.

Country sounds

The Twin Lakes Summer Concert Series continues Saturday with country music by Dave Stout at 6:30 p.m. and Michael Christopher at 8 p.m. in the amphitheater at Peach Park, off Georges Station Road in Hempfield.

Admission is free. Food will be available from Lou Lou's Smokehouse and beverages from Unity Brewing.

Seating is limited; attendees are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. Dogs on leash are welcome.

Hey you

Floyd Live will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

The tribute band replicates the sound and atmosphere of Pink Floyd's original recordings and live performances, playing classics such as "Wish You Were Here," "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," "Time" and "Comfortably Numb."

Monthly market

Gates will open at 7:30 a.m. Sunday for the monthly antiques and collectibles market at Historic Hanna's Town, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield.

The market continues through early afternoon, although some vendors set up by 1 p.m. Saturday and sell that afternoon. More than 100 vendors offer one-of-a-kind items including folk art, historical crafts and reproductions covering a wide price range.

Admission of $3 per car supports Westmoreland Historical Society's education and preservation projects at the site.

Sales are held the second Sunday of the month, rain or shine, through Oct. 8. No pets are allowed.
