Though there's never a shortage of festivals, markets and other cultural happenings in the Classic City, we've chosen to spotlight these events for the weekend of Dec. 29-31.

Wrap It Up Show
WHERE: Ciné Lab (234 W Hancock Ave.)
WHEN: Friday, Dec. 29 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. ($15 admission; $20 after 10 p.m.)
DETAILS: To top off an outstanding year for hip hop in Athens, this showcase features a timeline of some of the Classic City's best MCs, from legendary party rapper Tony B to the recently signed Motorhead 2X and breakout talent Queezy Poet. The star-studded bill also features Helluva Swagg, Jamal P and special guest HitManSammySam.
Motown New Year's Eve
WHERE: Athentic Brewing Company (108 Park Ave.)
WHEN: Sunday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. ($10 admission; all ages welcome)
DETAILS: Lead by Stanley and Dierdra Stroud, the Original Splitz Band has been the go-to party band for 1960s-present R&B and funk cover tunes for decades. If you've never heard their note-perfect renditions of Detroit-era Motown classics, do not miss this show. BasKat food pop-up will be on site providing "breakfast for dinner."
SoBrewCo New Year’s Eve Bash
WHERE: Southern Brewing Company (231 Collins Industrial Blvd.)
WHEN: Sunday, Dec. 31 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. ($50 admission)
DETAILS: This is an exclusive event at SoBrewCo's taproom, and the admission price includes a pizza buffet from Mellow Mushroom, beer all through the night, party favors, and hours of expertly-curated tunes by Athens' most beloved DJ Mahogany. Noon Year’s Eve Party
WHERE: ReBlossom Parent & Baby Shop & Center (625 Barber St., Suite 160)
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 30 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Free admission)
DETAILS: Let's face facts, New Year's Eve is a bit different for parents of little ones, and the idea of celebrating early allows for everyone to ring in 2024 and still get to bed at a reasonable hour. ReBlossom's family-friendly event will feature bubbles to play in, bubble wrap to play with, and a drink of "bubbly", a.k.a. sparkling apple cider, for all.
Randall Bramblett Big Band Holiday Bash
WHERE: Marigold Auditorium for Arts and Culture (373 N. Church Street, Winterville)
WHEN: Saturday, Dec. 30 at 7 p.m. ($25 admission)
DETAILS: Iconic Athens singer-songwriter Randall Bramblett's annual Holiday Bash concert promises a dusting-off of tunes from his vast back catalog as a solo artist and his band's multi-decade history as one of the Classic City's best live acts.
