Though there's never a shortage of festivals, markets and other cultural happenings in the Classic City, we've chosen to spotlight these events for the weekend of Sept. 8-10.

The Core: a H.O.R.D.E. Tour Revival

WHERE: The Foundry (295 E. Dougherty St.)

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. ($15 admission, $10 with UGA I.D.)

DETAILS: Spend three hours in jam band heaven with this revival of the 1990s H.O.R.D.E. tour featuring covers of tunes by Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic, Dave Matthews Band, Lenny Kravitz, Phish and more. WHERE: Georgia Theatre (215 N. Lumpkin St.)

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 9 at 8 p.m. ($22 admission, ages 18 and over)

DETAILS: Los Angeles-based entertainer Durand Bernarr's tour for his 2022 album "Wanderlust" will bring the multi-talented musician to the Athens stage for the very first time to enjoy an evening of retro R&B, funk and hip hop delivered with theatrical showmanship. Powerhouse singer-songwriter JeRonelle will open the show.

Athens Water Festival

WHERE: Sandy Creek Park (400 Bob Holman Rd.)

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 9 from 10:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. ($2 admission for ages 4 to 64)

DETAILS: All of the attractions are free for this water conservation-based event that will feature encounters with animal and sea life, music, and splashing with the Water Trucks. Guests are encouraged to bring a bathing suit and water bottle, and Athens-Clarke County employees can get in free by showing their county card.

DETAILS: Tears for the Dying lead vocalist and guitarist Adria Stembridge hosts an evening of sports counter-programming away from downtown Athens. The curated karaoke playlist includes favorites from classic to modern gothic rock, post-punk, punk and industrial music. Stembridge invites guests to "dress up, be cute and have fun."

Kids' Anime Club

WHERE: Athens-Clarke County Library (2025 Baxter St.)

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. (Free admission, all ages)

DETAILS: The ACC Public Library is a great place for folks of any age to meet, socialize and make new friends through its regular schedule of pop culture-centric events. The Anime Club will watch Japanese animation together (titles not specified but are family-friendly), sample Japanese snacks and create art together.
