5 things to do this weekend: Beatles tribute concert, Oscar gala, Moulin Rouge and more
Though there's never a shortage of festivals, markets and other cultural happenings in the Classic City, we've chosen to spotlight these events for the weekend of Mar. 8-10.

Liverpool Legends Beatles Experience
WHERE: Morton Theatre (195 W. Washington St.)
WHEN: Friday, Mar. 8 at 8 p.m. ($35-$55 admission)
DETAILS: This Beatles tribute show was put together with the participation of George Harrison's sister Louise, who also provided narration for the program. The concert takes the audience through the history of The Beatles, complete with period-accurate costumes and instruments. Visit mortontheatre.com for tickets.
Ciné Oscar Gala
WHERE: Epting Catering (1055 Barber St.)
WHEN: Saturday, Mar. 9 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. ($150 admission)
DETAILS: The ticket price might seem steep, but it's for a great cause. This event is a fundraiser for a third screen and digital projector at Ciné, Athens' one and only nonprofit movie theater. Guests are encouraged to dress as a past Oscar winner, and the event includes a buffet, bar, live music, silent auction, prizes and more.
Drag For All
WHERE: Hendershot's (237 Prince Ave.)
WHEN: Saturday, Mar. 9 from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ($5 admission)
DETAILS: For those looking to make their drag debut, long-running local troupe Athens Showgirl Cabaret's Drag For All event has the best audience one could be in front of. Stars Kellie Divine, Jenn Sparx, Sasha Stephens and more will be there, and sign-up details can be found at instagram.com/athens_showgirl_cabaret.
'Blue Stockings'
WHERE: Athens Memorial Park (293 Gran Ellen Dr.)
WHEN: Thursday, Mar. 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. ($15 admission)
DETAILS: The Athens Creative Theatre (ACT) presents "Blue Stockings," a 2013 play by British writer Jessica Swale that takes place in 1896 at the University of Cambridge. In keeping with Women's History Month, Swale's story deals with feminist ideals of the era. Tickets can be purchased at mortontheatre.com.
Moulin Rouge
WHERE: The Georgia Theatre (215 N. Lumpkin St.)
WHEN: Saturday, Mar. 9 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. ($15 admission)
DETAILS: Inspired by the 2001 jukebox musical "Moulin Rouge" and re-mixed by The Studio Athens faculty member Grace Bagwell Adams, this wild and wonderful show will feature performances by the studio's adult dance performance company.
