Omar Apollo spun onto the stage Friday evening at the Austin City Limits Music Festival right as the sun was starting to set, bringing an electric, authentic and soulful mix to an enthusiastic crowd.

Apollo, 25, released his first full-length album, "Ivory," in April and is popular among the TikTok crowd as his song "Evergreen" has gained popularity on the app. Friday the singer came out on the Miller Lite stage dressed in black, with leather pants and a jacket to offset his band in white.

Many other stars took over the Texas stages including Jazmine Sullivan, Noah Cyrus, Carly Rae Jepsen and SZA.

From his on-stage dancing to the energized crowd below him here's what you missed from his ACL fest set.

Omar Apollo wanted the crowd engaged

And the fans were more than happy to oblige him during the 7 p.m. set.

From his opening track, "Ivory," he regularly pointed the mic at the crowd to get people to sing with him. Before starting "Bad Life," he had the crowd practice the chorus — "That's a bad life" — with him. Apollo never went right into another song without stopping to talk to the crowd, whether it was about how happy he was to be in Austin or asking people to dance.

"I'm gonna keep reminding y'all of this atmosphere," he said. "It's too good."

The Mexican American singer gave a shoutout to the Latinos in the audience before playing "En El Olvido," to which the crowd started twirling each other around and singing along. Much to the surprise of Apollo, who said he saw quite a few white people in the crowd, noting it must be the "Bad Bunny effect," in reference to the Puerto Rican rapper's success.

TikTok fans were ready for 'Evergreen'

From the moment Apollo said, "I know y'all know this song; I've been seeing y'all's TikToks," fans tried pouring to the front, and there were more phones out recording that at any other point, all to catch the artist play the social media sensation "Evergreen."

Although he didn't shake his butt for the crowd, as he did with the TikTok promoting the song, the crowd blew up when the song hit its fever pitch.

He stays dancing

Apollo came out doing a 360 spin and didn't stop. He jumped around and danced for the crowd, who enjoyed it every time.

He loved the view

That sunset was hitting different. Apollo played right as day turned to night, and he commented multiple times on the view.

"This sunset right now is beautiful," he said. The stage resembled the sky, too, with lots of purples and blues lighting up the set.

More than anything, he's authentic

At one moment, someone in the audience appeared to need medical attention. Apollo didn't hesitate to stop the song and ask, "You OK, baby?"

And with Apollo constantly talking to the crowd, it felt like he had a vested interest in everyone having a good time.

There's just something refreshing about seeing an artist tell a fan, "I love you too," in response to someone yelling their adoration. If this is any indication of what Apollo's ACL Fest Nights show on Saturday at ACL Live is going to be like, then fans are in for a fantastic show.
