5 Things to Know About Will Reeve Ahead of His PEOPLE's List Appearance

Superman's son is making a name for himself!

Christopher Reeve's youngest child, Will Reeve, has been building up quite the impressive resume these last few years. After interning at Good Morning America and graduating from Middlebury College, Will earned at spot on ESPN's SportsCenter.

Those are just a few things about the son that bears a striking resemblance to his superhero dad. Read on for more interesting tidbits about the superstar kid that landed his dream job.

1. He was just 13 when his mother died, leaving him orphaned.

Will hadn't even turned 3 when his father was paralyzed in 1995 and was just 11-years-old when Christopher died in 2004. Two years later, tragedy struck again when his mother, Dana Reeve, died of lung cancer at the young age of 44. With that, he had lost both parents in just 17 months.

2. He dabbled in acting when he was younger.

Will first appeared in Glenn Close's 1997 TV Movie, In The Gloaming. He then went on to play a small role in The Brooke Ellison story, another TV movie that had his dad in the director's chair.

3. He’s always loved sports.

"We shared a very deep bond in general, but sports was definitely a major component of our family bond," Reeve told PEOPLE last year when he got the ESPN gig.

"If it involved a ball or a stick or a racket or a bat or a puck, we were either watching it or playing it or talking about it together."

4. He lived with a childhood friend after his mother’s death.

Although he has two half-siblings from his father's first marriage, Will went on to live with a close friend after his mother died. According to family friends, Dana wanted him to stay in Bedford, New York, with the people he'd grown up with. The proud hockey mom made the arrangements before her death.

5. His dad spent his last day alive watching Will’s hockey game.

The day before he died, Christopher spent quality time with his youngest child. He went to Will's hockey game, as he typically did, according to family friend Ken Regan. "He tried to go to all of Will's sporting events," the photographer told PEOPLE in 2004. They then spent the rest of the day watching baseball back at home.
