1. Roseanne is canceled following star’s racist tweet

As far as ABC is concerned, the outspoken Roseanne Barr crossed a line with the insult she hurled at Valerie Jarrett, a former adviser to former President Barack Obama, on Twitter Tuesday. “Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC President Channing Dungey said in a statement. 2. Deadliest Catch alum found dead

Blake Painter, who appeared in the series in 2006 and 2007, was found dead in his home in Oregon on Friday, reportedly after a friend was concerned about not hearing from him in several days. He was 38. Police do not suspect foul play. Read more>>

3. Morgan Freeman demands apology from CNN

After CNN published a story in which eight women accused Freeman of sexual harassment, the Oscar winner’s lawyer has sent a 10-page letter to the network calling for both a retraction and an apology. Freeman has apologized to “anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected.” The network stands by its story. Read more>>

4. Jamie Foxx cast in Spawn

Foxx will take on the title role in Spawn, an adaptation of the ’90s comic book superhero. Todd McFarlane, the creator behind the antihero, will write and direct the possible franchise. Read more>>

5. Serena Williams returns to tennis
