5 things to do in Anchorage this weekend

Jan. 11—All the the hubbub of ringing in the new year has passed as we now have two feet firmly in 2024. But even though the glitter and noisemakers are back in their boxes, there is plenty to enjoy and celebrate. This weekend includes a play, a silent film night, music and even pro wrestling. Here's a look at some notable events this weekend.

The Lifespan of a Fact

7 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 3 p.m. Sunday; Anchorage Community Theatre, 1133 East 70th Ave.

RKP Productions and Anchorage Community Theatre have collaborated on this play adapted from a book that investigates the fascinating working relationship between a writer, a fact-checker and an essay headed for publication. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors, military and students and $15 for children.

907 Wrestling

3 p.m. Saturday; Arctic Rec Center, 4855 Arctic Blvd.

Pro wrestling fans can kick off 2024 with the New Years Wrestlution. Midnight Sun Champion "Wildheart" Auron West, The Mean Street Hooligainz and more. Tickets are $20 and $5 for kids 12 and under.

Super Saturated Sugar Strings

6 p.m. Saturday; Williwaw Social, 609 F St.

One of Alaska's favorite bands brings their eclectic approach to the stage at Williwaw. Local artist Rosie Rush opens starting at 6:30 p.m. Tickets range from $15-$25 depending on date of purchase.

Silent Film Night

7:30 p.m. Saturday; Atwood Concert Hall, 621 W. 6th Ave.

Anchorage Symphony Orchestra musicians will be joined by guest conductor Rick Benjamin for a trio of silent films. Buster Keaton stars in "Cops" and "One Week," while Charlie Chaplin takes the leading role in "A Dog's Life." Tickets start at $28.50.

Jason Collings

7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday; Koot's, 2435 Spenard Road

Standup comedian Jason Collings has taken the stage at The Comedy Store and The Laugh Factors as well as making some major television appearances. Tickets are $20.
