5 Steps to Planning a Wedding Like ‘New Girl’
On Tuesday’s season finale of New Girl, Schmidt and Cece planned on getting married — but Schmidt was stuck on an airplane. In true New Girl fashion, the group of friends had the reception anyway. Here’s how they made it a memorable party.
Jess and Nick distracted the guests with alcohol. They aggressively poured champagne for everyone in sight. Nick told Jess, “Get ‘em drinky so they don’t get thinky.”
Stranded on the plane, Schmidt videoconferenced into his own wedding party and found himself leading a conga line, kissing Cece, and listening to speeches from his phone.
Nick didn’t lose a beat in connecting with Schmidt via tablet. He gave an emotional speech, saying, “When I first met this guy, Schmidt, I thought, 'I’m not going to be friends with this guy. I don’t like his personality.’”
Winston tried to prank the wedding by streaking, but had a change of heart. Then his clothes fell into a porta-potty. He escaped in shorts made from toilet paper.
Finally, Schmidt disembarked the plane and attended his ceremony at the apartment. The happy couple exchanged vows, which included this moving line from Schmidt: “I hope for as long as we stay together that I always remain someone that you wanna holla at.” In return, Cece said, “I look forward to a lifetime of joy, growth, and constant mispronunciation of common words.”
New Girl airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on Fox.
