It's the 48th anniversary of 'Bobby Justin Day.' Get a chow mein sandwich and celebrate
FALL RIVER — On Saturday, get out your dancing shoes and an appetite for a chow mein sandwich when the city celebrates the 48th Bobby Justin Day anniversary with a fundraiser.
Justin is a hometown boy who made it big in the music industry in the 1970’s after graduating from B.M.C. Durfee High School. While still a high school senior, Justin made a local name for himself playing at the former Somerset Lodge and his career in music and television.
About to leave on his first Las Vegas gig, then-mayor Wilfred Driscoll declared July 15, 1975 as "Bobby Justin Day."
The event is being held at The Liberal Club on Star Street and begins at 6 p.m.

City Councilor Leo Pelletier will be whipping up his famous chow mein sandwiches, which will be served from 6 to 7 p.m.

Then Justin and his band, the Bobby Justin Band, who are still performing in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, will hit the stage from 7 to 11 p.m.
Mayor Paul Coogan will be presenting a proclamation re-proclaiming Bobby Justin Day, according to Chief of Staff Ann O’Neil-Souza.

Justin’s wife, Kristin Justin, and City Councilor Linda Pereira organized the event.
Bobby Justin Day event will benefit a local student
Kristin Justin said the proceeds will go to a B.M.C. Durfee 2024 graduate who intends to continue their education in music or pursue a career in music.
Tickets are $25 a person, with children 12 and under getting in for $10.
