A year ago today might have been a big day for King Charles III, but it was his grandson Prince Louis who famously stole the show. Because while the world showed up and tuned in to see King Charles III and Queen Camilla crowned, they stayed to see the 5-year-old yawn, yell, frown, and look generally unaffected by the pomp and circumstance.

And trust us when we say we didn’t blame him. Partly because he was only 5 years old at the time, and partly because the coronation — while historic and impressive — was a bit of a snooze fest. It’s nothing personal, Charles! (OK, it might be somewhat personal.) It’s just that the centuries-old traditions weren’t made to hold the attention of 21st-century audiences. Or 5-year-old princes.

The young royal actually stepped out during the 2-hour-long ceremony and returned for the carriage ride back to Buckingham Palace. But nothing — not the grandeur of Westminster Abbey, the spectacle of the carriage ride, nor the outpouring of love while he stood on the balcony — could impress the little prince, and honestly, we loved to see it.

His hilarious expressions are the things meme dreams are made of, and we love that this is becoming a tradition. He made headlines last summer when he got bored during the Platinum Jubilee and started making funny faces. And if his sister, Princess Charlotte, is the master of the side eye (following in the footsteps of her grandma, Princess Diana), Prince Louis is a master of the eye roll who loves proving that the third child is a wild card.
