42 Dugg Released From Prison, Heads To Studio With Yo Gotti

42 Dugg has officially been released from prison. The Detroit rapper was picked up by close friends, family, and CMG label boss Yo Gotti on Wednesday (Oct. 18). The collective headed to the studio as the “Maybach” performer prepares to return to work.

42 Dugg, legal name Dion Marquise Hayes, was arrested in May 2022 for failure to turn himself in for a six-month prison sentence after being found guilty of illegal possession of a firearm. He faced up to five more years in prison, plus a $250,000 fine.

In April 2023, he was reportedly sentenced to one year in prison despite prosecutors recommending a six-month sentence, per HipHopDX. 42 Dugg was also ordered to three years of supervised release following his time behind bars with a $20,000 fine and prohibited use illegal drugs.

In May, Yo Gotti pleaded for 42 Dugg’s release, offering a substantial payout to any legal professional able to swing the rising rapper from behind bars.

“I got 2 Million for any lawyer that can get Dugg out early!” explained the Memphis native on social media. “That’s what I want for my birthday. #FreeDoggy.”

The offer came after the “We Paid” rhymer shared details of his prison experience, claiming that guards had raided his cell for contraband. 42 Dugg also elaborated on the alleged conditions of the prison.

“Im in jail for going to the gun range, dropping dirty and failure to appear,” wrote 42 Dugg in a previous update. “I didn’t steal from nobody, hurt nobody, they handling me crazy. Man im in this bi**h heating my food up with the water from the nasty a** shower. They dont even give us hot water to heat our food up aint no microwave, I can’t get no visits from my family nothing. Im sure they gone do some more illegal sh*t but what I pose to die in this bi**h for probation violation.”
