TV’s Grim Reaper sure kept busy in 2022, eh?

As we take one last look back at the year gone by, we can’t help but notice that it was a particularly brutal one for television: From long-running series that aired pre-planned finales (This Is Us, Better Call Saul) to the many Warner Bros. Discovery titles that fell victim to corporate cutbacks, a whopping 120 shows were added to the TV history books this year.

Some fun facts about the shows listed below: HBO’s ill-fated Time Traveler’s Wife adaptation and AMC+’s sci-fi series Moonhaven (which just recently had its Season 2 renewal reversed) are tied for the year’s lowest episode count, airing just six installments each before getting axed. Meanwhile, the syndicated talk show Maury boasts the highest episode count on the list, notching more than 5,500 (!) outings across 31 seasons.

And, as it tends to be, Netflix is once again the platform with the most shows to end this year, starting with Ricky Gervais’ dramedy After Life in January and finishing with Dead to Me‘s emotional final season in November. (NOTE: Our list does not include a) shows that were cancelled this year but aired their final episodes in 2021 or earlier (HBO Max’s Love Life, for example), or b) shows that announced a final season this year but won’t wrap up until 2023 or later. Speaking of shows ending in 2023, though, here’s our full list of series doing just that.)

Scroll through the photos below to reflect on this year’s swan songs, then hit the comments with the show(s) you’ll miss most.
