4 Times We’ve Seen Birthday Boy Jason Segel in His Birthday Suit

Jason Segel turns 36 on Jan. 18, which is why we’ve decided to count down all the times we’ve seen this birthday boy in his birthday suit.

The actor first stripped down in the 2007 romantic comedy Knocked Up. In the scene where Jason bares it all, he is standing on a curb outside after an earthquake with some strategically placed hands to cover his naughty bits.

One year later, the actor wrote and starred in the breakup comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall — and left nothing to the imagination. He took awkward to a whole new level when he gave audiences a full-frontal shot during his breakup scene with Kristen Bell. In a 2014 interview with Vanity Fair, Segel revealed that he didn’t warn his mother about his nudity in the flick. As a result, “She cried,” he told the mag. Jason’s mom then sent out a mass email to his family and friends to alert them of the shocking scene. “I would like to inform you all that Jason has chosen to do full-frontal nudity, however, it is not gratuitous and is essential to the plot,” the email read according to the former How I Met Your Mother star.

Jason was at it again in 2012, showing off his backside in The Five-Year Engagement when he wore nothing but a T-shirt and an apron in front of his co-star Emily Blunt. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Segel’s writing partner and director, Nick Stoller, revealed that they also shot a scene where Jason was completely naked but deleted it from the final cut. "In Sarah Marshall, the full-frontal is not completely gratuitous — it’s kind of a metaphor for his vulnerability,” Stoller said. “When I looked at the scene in the new movie, it did seem gratuitous. I was like, ‘This doesn’t work.’"

Jason also strutted his stuff in the buff for the 2014 movie Sex Tape. While promoting the film with co-star Cameron Diaz, Segel explained that he isn’t afraid to bare a little skin to get a laugh. “There’s this moment where you walk through it and you’re just doing it and it’s for the sake of comedy,” he said. “And we had a really fun, good time — I think."
